I was born and raised here. I cant figure out why the churches are against the legalization of alcohol but have never confronted the Country Clubs or the Lodges which have alcohol and open bars.

This is true. Just go out 408 east to the VFW. It's one nice bar. I want to see more alcohol sold in Marshall county. I know alot of church people that go to the VFE so let's vote yes and make it all wet.

It's called being hypocrits. It's the same reason that the country clubs have "coke" machines with beer in them in the back room.

Churches have confronted the illegal alcohol in Marshall county. If you are asking why there is still illegal alcohol in Marshall county then your question should be directed toward the county officials, not the churches.

If it was for the so called churches it would already be legal and we wouldn't be voting on it. Do lets vote yes and make all these illegal places like the VFW ,country club, and the Elks lodge all legal. Vote YES

The title of your post mentions "illegal" alcohol. The country club and Lodges which sell alcohol aren't illegal. They are private clubs and can sell alcohol to members.

I am 39 years old and I have lived here my whole life and I have never seen the churches confront the Illegal Alcohol in Marshall county like they have this wet/dry vote. I just dont understand how the churches can be so luke warm on the issue. Why do so many church members patron these places?

I do know when I was in highschool and under age, I knew that if I wanted to drink, all I had to do was call a buddy whose parents were members of a country club and I could get all the beer and liquor I wanted. I will say that the lodges are alot more responsible with keeping the kids out. I know of church members who play golf and are members of the lodges so how can they be so hell bent on defeating the yes vote?

Because if the churches confronted the Country Clubs and Lodges, then half of the church members would stop putting money in the offering plates.

Well, I'm a church member, I enjoy a beer or two on occasion, and I'm voting no and see nothing hypocritical in that at all. I don't believe it will add anything to our county, regardless of what Mark Wood and Sissy Womack are spouting off. I don't mind driving to Paducah. We're there a couple times a week anyway, so if i want a six-pack or a bottle of wine, I will pick one up when I'm there. The bigger question to me is not why churches haven't done anything about the illegal sale of alcohol, but why hasn't the sheriff's dept? Everyone knows there are stores in this county that sell bootlegged beer out of the back room, and yet nothing is ever done. If they won't or can't control the illegal selling of alcohol, why should I believe they can "control" the legal sell of alcohol?? Anyway...that's my opinion. I'm voting no, and we will just see in July what happens.

You are a non Marshall county supporter and I hope you get run out of the county on a rail. Vote yes keep your tax dollars in MY Marshall County.

I don't give my money to other counties. If you mean the tax dollars on alcohol sales, well, that might add up to $10 a year, if that! What about the fact that taxes will have to go up here for the extra deputies, my car insurance rates will go up (that's a convenient fact the "yes" folks don't want you to know!). I just don't see the "boom" in it that they would have you believe. Again, my opinion. We will find out in July which side wins, and each side will move on irregardless.

I was a yes man before this was even brought up. I hate the churches. It's all a big scam. Preachers are con artists that have been to school to tell you a story that is man made. I hate having to go to Paducah to get a drink that is a 27.2 mile drive one way! I want it close and I want it now. Just to let you know I'm 40 and lived here all my life. And for your tax money 10 bucks is 10 bucks. And if we need more cops that's more jobs. So suck it up we will be wet and all you fake ass church people will be at the stores getting your drink on.

By voting NO you are voting Yes to keep the bootleggers in buisness and they dont check a persons I.D. all they care about is getting the money.

What I find interesting in this whole ordeal is the fact that vote yes signs are being stolen county wide but I have not heard of one vote no sign being stolen. What does that say about our fine church going citizens? A sin is a sin people so wake up and quit being such hypocrites.
