I totally agree with you on the people of Benton. They do act like they are better than others, especially those with money as you say. I also love the comment on the popular ones in High School.

1 This is a good example of the Benton education system. This person was obviously one of the "popular" people. You can tell by the way they were quick to defend the "popular" and attack the other classes. It is obvious that they were allowed to slide through school and did not receive a proper education, as so many "popular" people were allowed to do. There are so many mistakes in their post that I am not going to list them all. If you were less than "popular" I am sure you will see them.! LOL! We were made to learn and not allowed to "slide" through because we were chearleaders, athletes, doctors kids, or local politicians children. I do have to agree that some of them did go on to do something with their lives, but the majority still think that they are better based on nothing other than a family name or financial status. I for one feel sorry for some of these people. They were cheated an adequate education (I say that because none of us got a "good" one from Benton) based solely off of who they were. |

the wrestling team has won the scholastic award several times (5 i believe),this is a state wide award. if you were to look at the honorroll when it is published some are even high honors ,and about 75% of the benton athletes are on the list. some dummies but very few. |

1 Concerning the Benton schools I have child in high school and she is doing great, not the most popular but I have made her tough so she does not take crap. That is all you can do make your kids tough and they will be ready for all the lovely drama. Now for District 47 a place where you send your little babies to school, they do not have the best interest for your kids. The principle for the K through 4th grade is just out and out rude, does not care about anything but the pay check. Prove me wrong!!! |

1 Prove me wrong!!" The PRINCIPAL at the K-4 has been nothing but nice and professional when I have spoken with her. Most recently, my child was moved from one Kindergarten class to a new Kindergarten class. No, I was not happy, but I did keep my thoughts to myself, because I know that my child will adjust to a new teacher and make additional friends in the new classroom. My child is excited and talks like it is an adventure. I would rather have my 5 year old in a class of 20, then a class of 25+. I am sorry if you have had a bad experience with the principal, but it is most likely because she didn't bow down to whatever request or comment you had made to her. Kids really get worked up about small things because their parents speak openly in front of them! As far as the principal caring about nothing but a paycheck, I have to disagree with that too! When you have 500+ students to deal with, and you add their parents (providing there's 2 active parents for a child), that gives someone about 1500 people to deal with. I am sure she can't make everyone happy all the time. I believe that everyone who works there, earns their paycheck, and are probably underpaid to some extent. |

Then why are you here? |

Yes, unfortunately this is true.
2 things; 1. I don't go to bars, but every time my friends do, they tell me about a fight, or 2 girls arguing, etc - can you not just eat, drink, and be merry? Why do you have to be so pathetic that you have to pick a fight everywhere you go? 2. The people who thought they were hot shit in high school are still delivering my pizzas (when I come back to town) or constantly posting facebook updates about how they are off to work at a random Benton bar. Get a life. And yes, it's because it is a tiny town with a lack of better things to do. A friend of mine once told me he drinks because there is nothing better to do in Benton. That's pretty sad. |

If you do your investigating of the schools in the are Benton is not one of the top nor is West Frankfort and they are the two biggest in the county. Believe it or not Thompsonville ranks much higher in education over both of theyre high schools and grade schools. And they dont let theyre athletes just slide by. So your wrong with that answer. |

because I can.......like you can |

Yes i know but im wondering why your purpose is here and everybody else. |
