Smoke Break

I give this place 6 months at most. As if we need another place on West Main to buy this kind of crap at. Where are all the churchy people protesting establishments like this? Parents will spend their kids life savings at places like these. LOL. What a waste, hope no banks loaned them money.

I don't know if they are renting the building or bought it. If they bought, I heard it was for sale for like over $200,000! Can you imagine going to a bank and saying.."Hey, I got this great idea for a cancer causing store. All I need is $200,000 to get it going!"..And the bank saying "Duh, ok!" Man, they should have put it up on the square with the rest of the junk stores. Welcome to Benton, home of junk and cigs!

Why don't you think of something else to go into the empty store buildings and do it. It is so easy for someone to sit back and do nothing. If a cigarette store, or antique stores is not what you want then come up with other ideas and follow thru with them (like opening up a store yourselves). It has been shown that even if something else was here, the local people would not support it. Otherwise, the businesses that were here would still be here.

I was wanting to put in a titty bar with a special entrance for the Immanual Baptist Church group, but it got turned down.

If I turn it into another Civic Center can I use the tax money I'd get for personal pleasure???

Sounds like you are bitter towards the church. There are some good people who go to that church.Not everone who goes to Immanuel will go to Heaven. Just because you go to church, that doesnt make you saved. Jesus said "not everyone who says unto me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he who does the will of my father who is in heaven many will say to me in that day, Lord,Lord have we not propesied in your name? and in your name cast out demons, and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never new you: depart from me, you that who work iniquity.Matthew 7:21-23

Bum, what's your beef with Immanuel? 500 members strong and you have a problem with 3 or 4, so they are all bad, right? Same old story every time. Get a life my brother.

Come on people its benton Il what else could we have lol and the church people dont like anyone who dont believe in theyre faith. I believe you dont have to go to church to believe in God he is everywhere. Dont down the businesses its hard enough to make a living in southern Il. Everyone has theyre own thing.

Today I saw a Baptist preacher on TV say he wished Obama would die of brain cancer, then he wished the same thing of the reporter. He said killing Obama wouldn't be murder. His parishioners carried guns and so did he. Christians ain't what they used to be.

I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.

Me like-um God, me dispise hypocrites. Many church goers hypocrites. Go to church for social events, not to praise God. Go drinkum beer after church. Not good.

I went inside the smoke store on west main yesterday, and it was very nice. I don't smoke but I think those that do should be able to buy them. I hope the store makes it, at least it is filling one of benton's empty buildings, and paying sales tax.

You are right, he is everywhere. But only if you are born again will you see him in heaven. A lot of people believe in God but havent confessed their sins and believed that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. It is as simple as that. Confess your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart. If you dont want to do that, that is up to you, but it is up to me to tell you that. What you do with it is up to you. I will be in heaven when I die, where will you be?

Oh I dont think I am special. I know I am a sinner. The bible says we are all sinners. Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.

God will judge those who do that. Yes, there are hypocrites in the church. They are every where.

I enjoy a cigar every now and then myself, and I'm glad to see there is a place in town to buy them, instead of wasting gas going elsewhere. I have a friend who works in the mines who used to have to drive to Kentucky to get his snuff - now he can get it locally. And its nice to see something in the building again. I checked the place out - the lady who owns it is really nice, and very friendly, and I heard her husband is retired military. You can tell she is trying really hard, and I hope they make it.
