A Ben Lomond man pleaded guilty Monday to charges he molested a friend's daughter and faces no less than 24 years in prison, the District Attorney's Office reported.

The Sheriff's Deputies who deserve the credit for the
fine investigation done in this case are
Sargent Todd Liberty and Detective Krissi Durant.
These officers were identified to the Sentinel verbally and in a written press release.

This case needs to be watched. I find it suspicious that he took a plea bargain to "spare" the girl the pain of testifying. I know someone who plead no contest to lesser charges allegedly to spare the victim the pain of testifying. His gain? He got no jail time for the molest,a $1000 fine and he did not even have to register as a sex offender. That was a bargain indeed - for the perperpetrator. There are some devil's bargains being made down at the courthouse....

This is assuming that he ever gets there. If he is taking a plea bargain, he may get no jail time if his previous record is clean and he has a good attorney. Sounds bizarre but it could happen. There is probably little to no physical evidence in this case so it might be a difficult one to prove absolutely. In such a situation, the DA might accept pleading guilty to a lesser charge since it is a guaranteed win.
