Actually un"Incredible70" most if not all of the Indians in Minnesota were put on reservations. Their past "handouts" included the federal government never paying most of the money that was promised for their land or the food that was promised, not to mention a few diseased blankets along the way.
One of the few things they were granted was certain fishing and hunting rights, which the government also later tried to take away. The Supreme Court ruled that the treaty was valid, so they receive those rights because they were always entitled to them, not because somebody feels bad for them.
It's called the rule of law. How would you like it if your great-great-great grandfather bought farm land and somebody said today that deed or treaty is so old we don't have to honor it?
The Indians certainly got the raw deal on most things. But you're forgetting that they also did the same thing to each other. To say they didn't is assinine. And the British did use germ warfare. But most died from normal contact from trading, ect. And America isn't the only place it was used. Mostly in Europe, I beleive.
As far as your last paragraph, ever hear of emminent domain?
And last but not least, it was the Red Lake tribe that depleted the fishery, NOT the non-natives. Our tax money was used to replenish it!

I would be shocked it there was. On another note, why can't we start putting slot machines in every bar in MN and use the profits for a good cause? This is discrimination, allowing one group (race) privileges that are not extended to other groups equally.
Hey, Hillbilly, the world is watching. Go brush your teeth, maybe you can muster-up the mental power for that, but not for expounding on the History of your own country; when a person gets into the actual occurrences that took place in the United States by the Government and others, it's just plain shocking the treatment of the Native peoples in what is now the United States of America, it's Genocide.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
