How about the Lower Red limits? How about the native limits on Upper? Any changes there?

I would be shocked it there was. On another note, why can't we start putting slot machines in every bar in MN and use the profits for a good cause? This is discrimination, allowing one group (race) privileges that are not extended to other groups equally.

we have ALL suffered hardships in one form or another, what is your point?...sooner or later you gotta get over it and move on, although many people don't want to move on because it would mean they would actually have to take inventroy of their OWN lives and actually be accountable for themselves instead of always being able to point the finger at Whitey and say it's his fault...it is just getting a little old is all.....
besides all of that I DO go the casinos because I enjoy it so don't preach to me, I am helping out the Native Americans in my own way, how about you?

Oh that is special - don't abide by our laws and live off our welfare system. LEGAL aliens. Oh I'm sorry that is unless you are part of the 'rich' Casino tribe. How long do we still have to continue to pay for things that happened so many years ago it is irrelevant to today's functioning society? I'd rather forget the poor indians past - and REMEMBER 911 instead of the other way around.

Minnesota has the right to have slots in bars or full scale Vegas gambling if it wants. However the majority of both Republicans and Democrats in the legislature don't support it and our Governor is fickle on the issue.

None of the natives alive today have had anything but handouts from the 'white man'. None of them were put on reservations...in fact, less and less live there each generation, because they know they are dead-ends. None of them were shot by 'cowboys'...most of the crime on reservations is native on native.

If you feel your great-great-great-grandmother was treated poorly, that is your prerogative. It is not our problem to give you things that others are not entitled to...that is called discrimination. When the word 'discrimination' can be used to get more stuff for you, you are all for it, but when the discrimination is reversed (legal gambling on reservations, separate legal system to the rest of the US, etc) you claim that is OK because your people were 'abused' hundreds of years ago.

I find it funny that so many people are complaining about the Native American casinos. Nobody forces you to go there and if all non-native Minnesotans refused to visit them they would all go out of business.

As someone once said "the only time people cared about the plight of Indians is when we have money" It's very true, find something else to bitch about.

Actually un"Incredible70" most if not all of the Indians in Minnesota were put on reservations. Their past "handouts" included the federal government never paying most of the money that was promised for their land or the food that was promised, not to mention a few diseased blankets along the way.

One of the few things they were granted was certain fishing and hunting rights, which the government also later tried to take away. The Supreme Court ruled that the treaty was valid, so they receive those rights because they were always entitled to them, not because somebody feels bad for them.

It's called the rule of law. How would you like it if your great-great-great grandfather bought farm land and somebody said today that deed or treaty is so old we don't have to honor it?

No, the indians there today were NOT put there. Their tribe may have been put there 300 years ago, but THEY were not. Simple as that.

Wow, this reflects so poorly on the state of Minnesota. That you all feel comfortable enough to spout such racial hatred in such a public forum is disgusting. And what, so you can catch a few more fish?? There are plenty of lakes in Minnesota, maybe we'll let the natives, who's land it is anyway, keep one to themselves.

Well Incredible70 the Indians of today were not "put there", but their ancestors sure as heck were. What's your point?
You don't think we have to honor federal agreements signed years ago, just because everyone who signed it is now dead? So you don't think we should honor the Constitution?
If you don't like the Indians tribal laws or casinos, then don't go to their reservations, it's not that difficult.

If you honor the agreements of the past, then they should fish [spear] like they did in the past. On the back of a horse with a fire stick. Not in a high powered boat with 20 flood lights on it spearing every walleye they see. Can't have it both ways!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Virgo

Words are flying around in all directions today, and the conversations will be fast and furious. You might face a lot of distractions and interruptions, or you could get caught up in some rather irritable slanging matches with a certain person. The busier you are, the more fraught you'll become and the more likely to go off the deep end.
