Pipeline brings economic bliss to Bemidji

Wow, no information on the pipeline, where it originates or where it will terminate? What size it is? How much oil it will transport? This is today's jounalism.

It's a hydrocarbon world for the foreseeable future! I don't see any mention of environmental protesters to jobs this pipeline has created!

You may be right, or if you spell like the PP, you my be right. I was also hoping to read about the pipeline rather than the lodging woos in 'midji.

weres the job they sure not hiring any one from around here and if your not in the union no job thats crap people are coming from out of state to work the pipeline and no one around here is getting work

Get real. Why not build a wind generation farm there and bring some good to the area along with jobs, an uptick in the economy, and future growth.

Oh, yeah...it would bring free energy to the area too. Unless Our Mother is now charging us for wind usage.

I can saw for FACT- LOCALs from the Bemidji are ARE being hired on with US Pipe, fact being Im related to them or know them personally. Yes the union halls are full up right now you have a better shot getting hired on if you are out of the hall that would be the local to the job, now if you get lucky and get a book from that union and get hired on even better. Books are hard to come buy since teh halls are full. The contractors have their foremans and main hands, who aslo have their main guys, they still have to have locals on. Do some research of have some knowledge before you go around saying locals are not getting hired on. They usually have 60/40 and 50/50's (company gets 60% hires and 40% locals or 50%/50%) if its a hard bid job- which I believe it is its even harder to hire laborers/operators etc.

Yeah, the pipeline may bring a very temporary minuscule "benefit" to the local economy, but it will contribute untold damage to the environment for decades to come.
If there were lawsuits to stop this insanity, it's a shame they failed. There must be some way to file an emergency injunction and get this pipeline shut down, stat.

Can you tell me what damages have been done with all existing lines that have been in the ground for DECADES???? Please enlighten me of the damages, please also look up how many MILES and MILES of pipe are in the ground in the US and comparable mishaps/damages. I'd love to know.

I bet you fill your car up or use natural gas for heat....?? I'd take a bet you dont chop trees down and spilt wood for heat either.

Is wind energy free energy? Then how does it create Good jobs? Why aren't there business people chomping at the bit to get at this lucrative wind energy? Building and maintaining wind farms literally uses no resources, metal? I have seen hugh trucks moving large windmill parts down the freeway. Does that require fuel? No, that's right it's free...Do large metal parts require recycling or OMG mining? What do they use to melt metal? Probably just bellows, AKA wind, no fuel. I thought hot fires produce CO2.
I am just grateful that Oil has supported my family and many families that I know for many years, it's not just some just some fly by night environment destroyer as you would believe. I appreciate that oil gets my kids to school and heats the school. Never hear anyone bitch that they have gas in their car. In fact they are usually angry when they do not. Funny no one's really bummed that they are getting from point A to point B. Really hate all this staying warm all damn winter. Such a disgrace having all this plastic making my life easier. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Next time you gas up your car, know how lucky YOU are and that your dollars ACTUALLY gave somebody a job that supports children and keeps them warm. So why aren't you making a wind farm? Then the news could report about it instead of some unimportant housing issue.

Agree. I think the PP has tough times. Probably very few working there with a living wage. Maybe they can get on with a pipeline and make a living wage. Don't need much for spellin with dat, not dat it would hurt or nuttin'.

Crops are grown over the pipeline, ducks nest over the pipeline. The pipe is either going under someone's yard or is UNDER the wilderness. So what UNTOLD damage do you mean? Our mother has a remarkable ability to heal herself with the help of silt fence and seeds. We are advanced enough to plant seeds that grow new plants. It's amazing! That miniscule benefit pays living wages that have supported my family for several years (not just one project), not paid for by the stimulus fairy (I mean my children who are not old enough to vote). perhaps if you would learn proper grammar, and spelling, you might be able to complete a job application. From what i see, you couldn't even follow instructions.

This is for all of you complainers, your right we should just get rid of all the pipelines dig up the existing ones then we wouldnt need gas stations anymore or gas or oil to heat our homes or stores then we could all walk to work and to the grocery store and go chop wood for heat then maybe some people wouldnt be overweight and out of shape
