All I know is that you don't want to be a lone black man attempting to hit on a white girl in an all white rural town. This is true in most of rural america, I just think people are surprised it could happen in "socially conscious" Bolinas.

what the hell....you know that that is not true right? If he had raped little girls someone would have called the police right? Next you will be telling me he was a member of the klu klux klan. If you beat up, dispose of the weapon, and leave a person to bleed to death you deserve time in prison.
I honestly could care less about these sort-of people who do not consider the consequences of their actions (because you don't know what people like this are capable of).
Young and old everyone must take responsibility for their actions.
Their families will have to reconcile the fact that their child played a role in a heinous crime. I am sure these grieving families would want the perpetrators convicted if it were reversed and it had been their son the crime had been committed against.
Moreover, you need to consider that it is the victim not the perpetrators who will have to deal with the scars (emotionally & physically) for a lifetime.
I think they call that a life sentence!
The time that those boys will have to serve in prison is nothing compared to a life forever changed and altered by their actions.
The four boys are lucky....thats what I say.
