You have been at the wrong place at the wrong time then because they are used for search & rescue, police dogs, and therapy pets! Do a little more research and educate yourself before opening your mouth.

I have personally experienced both sides of the coin, having been attacked by a Doberman when I was 8 and now I own a pit bull that was raised by an 8 year old. Any one who says that all pit bulls or any type of bully, should be banned has some serious problems going. Foremost is the fact that ANY DOG can kill, even a "teacup" size dog, if the situation is right, can take a person's life. Second if you take the time to check the ACK statistics you will find that the am-staff, APBT and MANY other so called bully breads have a higher first time passing rate in their temperament and cgc test than even Labradors and retrievers.
It is a shame to see such a loyal, loving and trustworthy animal being put down because 1 out of more than every 1000 has something happen. If we were to hold humans to the same standards as we are attempting to force these dogs to live by then the entire human race would be banned, no matter if you sliced it by race, age, sex, religious creed, sexual preference are any other statistic you would like to use.
So in closing just remember that if you allow someone to take an inch, they will go after the mile. So while it might only be so called vicious dogs that are being singled out right now, one day, when that golden retriever or jack russell that you love so much bites someone, it just might be considered vicious.

Yeah...just because they told the police it was a family pet doesn't mean it was the truth. Maybe it was their fighting dog that made them extra money and they thought the police would go easy on the dog if they said it was the "first aggressive incident". OR maybe like most parents nowadays, the child was left alone with the dog and was being mean to it and the dog defended itself. Dogs can't say "Mom, Billy's pulling my tail and I'm getting pissed." Just because the kid was 11 doesn't mean he wasn't possibly being ornery. At any rate, it's a load of crap to say "Well DUH it was a Pit Bull." Animals behave the way they are raised to behave. I myself have a 65lb AmStaff, a 50lb Lab mix, and a 9 lb MinPin. Guess which one is the most likely to try to kill you? Yeah, the MinPin. Don't be so common.

Its really said that people don't get to see and here about all the dog attacks that go on. Yet even as an owner of a pit bull I would not leave it unsupervised arround kids. Nor would I leave the kid unsupervised around the dog. Thats because you don't leave your box and they( are in a few states K-9 officers with state troopers! Its not the dog its the owners bottom line!

Agreed, I have a buddy back in GA that has Pits, they are sweet and you can get down and wrestle and fight with them and they just love the attention, but they have never been subjected to any stress, they have been loved and cared for and have room to run.

It is not the Dog.. It is the Irresponsible Owners that train their dogs to be Anti-Social.
I have raised Staffordshire Terriers and American Pit Bulls since I was 10. Never had a Biter, Never had a Fighter. My 23 yr old cut his teeth on my poor bitch's nub of a tail, My 18 yr old daughter learned to walk holding my old bitch's neck.. I have photos of her sleeping on the couch with a 3 yr old male.. Everyone said they would be worthless. Everyone I refused to sell a puppy to for fight training that is.

I will guarantee you one thing though.. You get anywhere near my 3 yr old Grand Daughter with Mal intentions and you will feel the Wrath of Coco. All 123 lbs of her, protecting her pup.

I feel if you want to own a "Pit Bull" then you need to undergo a background and H&S checks.
I have 4 right now from rescues, that were supposedly "Man Killers". One is trying to lay in my lap as I type, and steal a piece of Bacon when I'm busy.

If you own a Gun, You are required to act responsibly.. If you own a dog, you are required to act humanely.

Check out the wild wild west apartment complex at a 2nd & Dean street. It is a haven for pitt bulls. Even have 4 to 6 mixed ones running around loose and sometimes in the yard at the vacant house on Park Street across from the apartments.

Then Report them to the Police.. Owning a Pit Bull has nothing to do with Unlawful Activities, or animal control issues.

Nope I am not the "Dork" Lady at Animal Control.. I am a Professional Animal Rescue Worker.. I have taken in scores of Pit Bulls that were abused and tortured.. Sadly many had to be euthanized because of their upbringing.(Their Owners didn't face HARD time, usually a citation for abuse or fighting if they were caught in the act.)
Though many found good loving homes after a long peroid of readjustment and socialization.

It is not the Dog who is at Fault. It is the Owners who do not have the "Brains God gave a Potato Chip", who train the animal to be agressive.

ANY dog will bite, and Very Hard if they are threatened. My Ex-Wifes Chi-Oodle put 31 stitches in my forearm. Little Rat Ba*tard Speared an Artery. I have only been bitten once by a Rescue (They Fed him Gunpowder and Ground Glass to make him mean), but INNUMEROUS times by small breeds.
