Tuesday's Letters to the Editor

Full story: Long Beach Press-Telegram

Thomas Lind's Sept. 1 letter on school reform points out five key areas. However, I believe the most critical and under-utilized of the five is "parent engagement and accountability." Although giving teachers resources and support is important, that effort is undermined if parents and community members are not actively involved in the process.

Where is my Teleprompter?? The President can't answer questions. FoxNews will not ask him softball questions like the others. Heck, Obama can't even explain to George Stephanopolous that a tax increase is a tax increase, duh the bill even says "excise tax." You need to go to conservative blogs to find out the facts.

Chris Wallace would expose Obama's intellectual emptiness. I guess Columbia and Harvard are not as intellectually rigorous as they used to be. Even W went on hostile interviews.

Mr. Williams is a little bit off in his analysis of the Health Care opponents. The democrats have enough votes to pass this without one republican vote. Obama's problem is with his own party. They know that this is a stupid idea.

Notice that no one is saying that post office medicine will be 1) better or 2) cheaper. They know it will be a disaster. The ONLY way to provide a better product at a better price is the Free Market and Competition.

I thought "Free Market and Competition" is what we already have. That may be your idea of the ONLY way to provide a better product at a better price, but it doesn't seem to work at the gas pump. And health care is not a "product" that you drive up and get from a pump. Heck, it's not even like flat screen TVs or cell phones or hula hoops or Cabbage Patch dolls.

Before the President goes on TV his staff directs the Media on what they can ask and what they cannot ask.

They Hate Fox because Fox refuses to pander to them. Tough questions are too hard for this President. He can only handle Cheerleaders who pose as journalists.

PS.....I'm A democrat and all my democratic friends have been forced to watch Fox to get the NEWS. Don't think Republicans are the only Americans who care about our kids future.

Per Richard L. Williams: Most of the people who oppose his plan tend to be Fox viewers. You would think this would be the audience he would like to reach.

He also fails to mention that most people who watch Fox News are also tea bagging ignorant racists republicans who don't know that Hawaii is a State.

"President Obama was invited to the Fox news network to discuss his health plan. He refused that invitation."
~Richard L. Williams Long Beach~

How can that be bad? No one that watches Fox News can understand anything but BushSpeak and RushSpeak.

Justwondering, but, If Obama didn't go on Fox, wasn't it Obama who refused to pander to Fox? No wonder they hate Obama.

Bad editing? As a second generation Millikan graduate who has a student currently at Millikan, this concerns me, "What about Millikan? Poly "finally win one" and gets a picture on the front page of the Sports section Saturday. Millikan wins their third in a row and doesn't get anything beyond a score listing. How about showing a little love to all the high school in Long Beach?"

Excellent point, had Obama accepted the invitation, he would have been speaking a language that none of the republican Fox News watching zombies viewers would understand, that being, the truth.

Why would President Obama ever appear on faux noise.
No one who watches that channel would ever support any of his actions anyway.

You go Spike! Your lust to fail and HATE for any one who questions the wisdom of choosing to fail defines the Calif. Progressive.

Those nasty moderate Democrats, Repubs, and independents should be demonized at every opportunity for disagreeing with his unquestionably superior view of the World. He just can't fathom why any wouldn't prefer a bankrupt, violent, disjointed Third World future for their loved ones.

This coming from a guy who probably gets all his information from Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, and Whoopi from The View.
