I welcome the ban. If it goes into effect it will give me a place to light up. I will smoke on the boardwalk while walking my dog. As I usually do I will put the butt in my pocket when I am done with the cigarette. If I get fined I will take the city of Belmar to court for violating my civil rights.

There should not be smoking allowed on any boardwalks because there are a lot of children and infants around.

There should not be children and infants allowed on any boardwalks or beaches because they are unessential and annoying as hell.

I smoke. But I dispose of my butts and empty packs in the trash, like a considerate person should. And if the smell bothers you, then you're in my personal space, because out in the open, you can't smell my cigarette from ten feet away. So quit bitching and move away from me.

Don't blame smokers for cig butts and packaging litter? A duh moment or what. And as far as personal space goes if you can keep your toxic smoke and stink IN your personal space then fine, but when it comes into MY personal space that offends me.

A big part of the issue here is that Orlando's government wanted the state government to rescind its preemption law. They were talking about putting out the "suggestion" that people refrain from smoking--because the STATE said they could do nothing in the way of passing laws to deal with LOCAL problems caused by smokers.
