i and many others siged the petition. if the major is so worried about losing why didn't he just back off. why hire 2 lawyers and have the group pay for it???? there has to be some reason he is so scared of losing.

Could there have been some sort of malfeasance?? Is that what you are curious about ribeye?

I dont know, but I am guessing he is feeling a little deserted. From documents can't see where he has set a course to hurt the city but he is getting thrown under the bus by a bunch of malcontents spewing 1/2 truths and fabrications.

The main claim is lack of communication with council, but look at council minutes. I did after it was pointed out. And its true almost all the votes are unanimous one way or the other. That is just a bit of it. Looks more like a personality conflict with a few turned ugly.

Why in the hell a person would fight tooth and nail for a thankless job is beyond me. This is no bump in the road, this is an eruption.

I've been quietly watching the systematic destruction of a small rural community that cannot stand positive change Your Mayor is blessed with a trait called character that is in short supply, and virtually nonexistant with the recall supporters. There is also a bit of committment mixed in, he has started some good ventures for the community and he plans to see them through.

You can bet on one thing, this man is no quitter, lesser people would have folded their tents long ago.

I don't know.... but I feel that Skip takes this mayor thing waaaaaaay too serious. How can you enjoy life if you are constantly at odds with people? One conflict after another is no way to live your life... Anyway at the stage of life Skip is at, I would think he would have mellowed out by now.

i really appreciate the comments of bill and norman and of scout, the other threads are totally out of hand. i must wonder that why is the mayor fighting so much for such a thankless job? ribeye brought up a very good point. of course, this thread will no doubt in the near future, be swarmd on. anything that even opaquely does not agree with the mayor elicits a personal attack. very disturbing. and buttresses the comment by ribeye. It can only boil down to three things. money, ego power, and i guess can you lump ego and power together. at least, the money, with an unbiased accounting firm, can be taced.

yea, the motor is not hitting all all the cylinders. the mayor seems to be taking himself way to seriously. it seemed to start with a trivial issue, a hat. i think the mayor has does some really good things, but is starting to crack on basic character issues, plus seems to be a flunkie to the city manager. i have no dog in the hunt, however.

Ribeye, I am sure you acted in good faith when you signed that petition. I applaud you for standing up for what you believe in and giving a damn about the fine community of David City.

I personally am very happy and thankful to have a mayor who takes his job seriously. I am very afraid to think of what will happen to this town if the troops behind this recall end up running this town (and I'd like to think it won't happen). I, for one, would seriously consider leaving (and I doubt I will be alone). What an embarrassment this has been. All over personality differences (again, those who have read the minutes find near unanimous votes of the council). Mayor Trowbridge may rub certain people the wrong way, but the reason he ran for mayor is because he CARES about this city and wants to see it move forward. I'm sure he is second-guessing himself now....

Dear Thankful... I believe the people that signed the petition for the recall also care about David City as well.. why not declare a moratorium.. fire all the lawyers.. and get a mediator to help settle this thing... work together.

i think he wants to take a page out of the sarah palin book of success. Not knowing anytyhing about true leadership, be a mayor of a small town, become governor of nebraska, and back into a vice president candidancy with a hail mary pass by a desparate republican presidential candidate based on his GQ looks

i agree with thankful that he does care, and there is nothing wrong with that. however the town is also being torn apart over this issue. so if he truly cared, he might want to roll with the flow and see how it all shakes out. getting lawyers involved is not towards the greater good, as is also accosting signers(residents) of the recall petition. his leadership is obviously flawed, and maybe he would be more effective helping the community in a different capacity. there is nothing wrong with that. not everyone has the timber to be a head coach, but oftentimes a good asst. does great things. In other words, be an arrow slinger towards someone that may have a thicker skin.

Do you really think he intends to run for governor? Think he'd settle for Lieutenant Governor? I could make it happen.

The Mayor and I do look really good together in that methane program photo, kind of like GQ. Would you folks in David City support our bid next election?

Leave Gaston in David City, he looks like Tiny Tim, smells like Big Foot, can we call him TinyFoot?

Cancer

You've got high hopes about someone or something today, and you're confident that everything will turn out well. If a positive attitude is a guarantee of a positive outcome then you have nothing to worry about. But is it? There's a chance that you're being far too optimistic, and confusing fantasy with fact. If so, you'll be in for a big disappointment.
