Old Rite Aid Building on Jerusalem Ave/Peapod Rd

I hear a dollar store is going into that building in the next few months. Its not a Dollar Tree, but same type of store.
Anyone else hear this?

Those stores are awesome. I love the smell in them so unique.

'Bout time they put SOMETHING there. Im glad Western Beef didnt go there, but SOMETHING has to.

Instead of putting another dollar store in, I feel they should possibly think about putting in some type of atmosphere for our kids. Ex: Under 18 yr dance hall or a large game room. My daughter is 13 yrs old and would love to have this in our area. We have a lot of great kids in our neighborhood and I'm sure they would love this idea.

That property is contaminated with real bad chemicals thats why it is vacant. There was a Dry Cleaners there years ago and EPA Hazmat closed that property down. I am real surprised the Saw Mill Road parents are not fuming mad in Bellmore.

yes this Rite Aid is a toxic site, one time home to a Dry Cleaners. Site is very Toxic and across from Saw Mill Road School in Bellmore. Arnold Goldstein was notified and has not taken any action to insure these children are safe. We made alot of sugestions to meter and take readings at the school. He said no way it is not in the budget.

Yes this a comtainmated EPA site from an Old Dry Cleaners thta wonce existed there,.. Dave Denenburge Leg is on top of the plans?

What dry cleaners ? The site was houses and woods until A&P built a supermarket there in the '60s. It remained a supermarket until it became a drug store.

That site is listed as toxic as per The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation:

toxic exposure, leads to animal attacks,... dry cleaning and other solvents (linked to brain damage and major organ damage) I still can't believe North Bellmore elementary has a school " Saw Mill Road " less than 200' feet away from this Toxic site.

The Bellmore Herald or Bellmore life had an article about 1 year ago on this. Plus now you have a Cell Phone Tower at the Rite Aid parking lot across the street sending who knows what in that area, studies show Cell Phone towers lead to cancer! Another great job by kate Murry and the TOH

Closed because of Contamination. They are working on getting it done free.

This site was once known as a dry cleaners and it was publised over a year ago in the paper. The school Board, teachers and teachers Unions should be making a big issue. The parrents should make even a bigger issue. Contact the Dept NYS Enviromental Conserviromental today, aldo the Town of Hempstead.

This is only one site that is contaminated. Rite Aid closed due to the high levels of Contamination. Employee's were getting sick so they closed the bldg. The Town of Hempstead does absolutly noting to protect local residents near this Rite Aid and the school Children at Saw Mill Road.
