All the people who are racist against black people need to think about the luxuries of life that you have before you start putting your foot in your mouth! Without us, you would have no shoes, no cars, public transit, no stop lights, no refrigerators, lawn mowers, sprinklers, lights, elevators, heating and cooling systems, crops, combs, dust pans, mops, street sweepers, etc.

None of these things would exist! Black people invented these luxuries with no help from the "white" people.

Furthermore, if any of you white people are IRISH DECENT, please note that the Irish people were deemed Blacks when they immigrated to America. They worked in the fields and actually were considered lower than black people. Read Ronald Takaki's, "A Different Mirror", and educate yourself about yourself!

I have heard of the claims regarding some of those inventions, and also read sources which dispel those claims. In fact, below is a link to a site which gives an in-depth account of the REAL story of the creation of many of the inventions.

The Website's author provides a good amount of documentation which allows the reader to research the origins of the products for himself/herself, rather than taking the author's word for it.

At least, click on the link and read the story about the invention of the "cellular phone." I found it to be quite comical!

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill.- An East St. Louis man remains jailed on $500,000 bond on charges related to a shooting that wounded a 3-year-old boy last week.

St. Clair County prosecutors charged 25-year-old Jamil Gibbs with aggravated battery with a firearm.

Authorities say that hours after Gibbs argued with the boy's father, the father and the boy were in a van when Gibbs shot at that vehicle.

The boy is hospitalized in serious condition.

A 26-year-old Dupo woman told police she was unsure exactly where she was when she was shot early Tuesday morning, but she knew it was somewhere in East St. Louis.

Detective Michale Floore, who is the lead investigator on the case, said police were called to Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital at 6 a.m. to investigate a shooting involving a woman from Dupo. They arrived to find the woman had been shot once in the chest, Floore said.

'She didn't know where she was in East St. Louis when she was shot,' Floore said.'But she said she knows she was in East St. Louis.' Read more

Missouri woman charged with weapon offense in Belleville

A Missouri woman was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Tuesday night after Belleville police officers found an unloaded weapon and ammunition inside her car.

Officers said they received a call about 8:20 p.m. regarding an aggravated assault that occurred at North 17th Street and North Belt West.

The caller followed Lisa B. Tiemann, 39, of 990 Robinwood Drive in Florissant, Mo., until officers spotted the car on Illinois 161 and then stopped it.

They seized an unloaded weapon and ammunition.

Tiemann is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail

BELLEVILLE, Ill.(AP)_ A St. Clair County judge has ordered a former death-row inmate to spend life in prison without parole for the 1994 killing of a Belleville convenience store clerk.

Circuit Judge John Baricevic resentenced 32-year-old Bobby Williams on Wednesday for the slaying of Sharon Bushong.

Williams was convicted of first-degree murder in 1996 and was given the death sentence.

That was later overturned by a higher court, and the case was sent back to St. Clair County after former Governor George Ryan commuted the death sentence of inmates on Illinois' death row.

The 32-year-old maintains his innocence and his lawyers say
