as of right now there is no public released fact on who did this.. but I will say that I would not doubt that they will be made an example and used to save face in the LoCo court system.. There was so much backlash from the Pulfer case verdict that this person will be punished for their heinous crime.. and for his.. I hope this circumstance opens the eyes of the Loco judicial system.. Commit a drug crime?.. get rewarded for telling on someone.. busted for escape from jail? get OR'ed out ..Molest a teeager? Get a huge settlement.. If you look at their statistics of conviction rate .. it looks good on paper.. but if you look at it case by case crime vs verdict it sucks..

Logan County Sheriff Andy Smith said preliminary reports indicate Austin Houser, 15 of Big Springs, was walking southbound and well off the roadway when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that was also traveling south. “The preliminary accident report shows that the vehicle left the roadway and struck him in the ditch,” Smith said. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/l... |

if he was walking home he wasn't going home. his house is north from rushsylvania. |

Judged: 1 Where he was walking to doesn't change the fact the driver went off the road, struck him and left without calling for help. |

A Logan County teen was likely left in a ditch for days after being struck and killed while walking home from a friend’s house off of Ohio 274 on Thursday. Thumbing through photos of her son after making his funeral arrangements, his mother Ellena Houser said she’s still in disbelief. “He should be here,” she said through tears.“How do people do that? They know that if it were their child they would want to know what happened.” Ellena Houser said her son often walked to a friend’s house in Rushsylvania, and thought he’d spent the night there. But when the sophomore didn’t show up at Benjamin Logan High School the next day, she said she filed a missing person report. A passerby reported seeing Houser’s body in a ditch a few feet off the roadway on Saturday morning. Smith said deputies were later led to a vehicle that may have been involved in the crash, but he could not release details. A search warrant has been requested and the owner of the car has been contacted. So far no arrests have been made, Smith said. A candlelight vigil was held by friends of Houser on Monday night at Community Park in West Mansfield. Ellena Houser said knowing her son, a football player and self-proclaimed “goofball,” had so many friends has been a comfort. But until the person responsible for his death confesses, she said her family will not find closure. “Come do what you need to do. You take a life and you can’t replace it,” she said. Zip the lip said "Roof" the Attorney. She confessed but, parents who want to protect are enablers. JMO |

Confession is needed for the soul to heal and mom and Austin's friends and family to find closure. |

Freedom comes from being honest about guilt.
If only her parents would realize this. |

Maybe she didn't have a cell phone? |

How old is the "girl" does anyone know??? Oviously there are people in Rushlytucky who know the parents.
The girl is only seven. She doesn't have her driver's license yet. Have a little sympathy for young people.
Have they ever found out who did this?? Have not heard anymore

Judged: 1 --------—- I find it ridiculous that no further information has been released. How long has it been since the Sheriff's office said the were waiting on a warrant to search the vehicle? A young man is dead and the family, as well as the public deserves some answers. Is the female in question "connected" in some way the GOB club of Logan County? I'm not able to believe that it is taking this long to obtain a warrant and/or process the vehicle for evidence. We want to see some sort of justice for this young man. As a parent myself, I find the pace of this investigation unacceptable. |
This young man is dead. There is no justice for the departed. Get off your high horse.

Are you serious? She couldn't have stopped at a nearby house or business and asked for help? |
you are an idiot. no one cares what you say on here. you should change your name and get educated before you contribute anything else to topix. |
So if this we're your child, would you accept that? |

This is just my humble opinion, I have no facts to base this posting otherwise. My two cents you might say, but I am thinking it's possible they are waiting for the health of the individual in question to be determined. If she passes away, charges against her would be impossible and useless obviously. As for the silence, I am wondering if it's due to not being able to file charges yet. If charges haven't been filed, they may not be able to legally release any info or names. So, it may all be hinging on the health condition of this individual. It is possible that this is being handled differently based on who's who, we know that occurs with frequency in this county, and if it is, we can do something about that when/if it becomes clear. All we can do for now is wait to see what is behind the silence. As for Austin's family, this has got to be the worst days of their lives, and something that none of us ever want to experience. The grief must be unfathomable. We can't do anything to bring Austin back, but we can all slow down, drive safely and prevent this from happening to anyone else. As for the individual that is responsible, if what is being said is accurate, then it appears they have a heavy burden to bear. Prayers for all involved. |
