NYY, I would love to see you in a situation where your layed up in a hospital for weeks, and you have lost a family member, and NO ONE gives you sympathy. YOU are not perfect and neither is Scott. That does not mean he deserves this. I am sure this has been a huge awakening for him and I am sure his old ways will change. What Buster did was wrong and he needs to pay, and people like YOU need to put yourselves in this situation before you open your trap. I assume you are a close relative or friend of Scott. You are right to defend him because thats what good family and friends do. However the fact that a drunk driver got run over by another drunk driver isn't going to gain much sympathy in public. You refer to his drunk driving as a thing of the past. I heard that he was just arrested and cited earlier this year for drunk driving. Doesn't sound like "old ways."

So what you are saying is its a good thing he got hit by a drunk driver because otherwise he would still be out driving drunk risking other peoples lives.

If buster morgan had any balls he would amitt to being drunk. If he wasn't he would have stopped that night instead of commoing in after it was to late to get an alchol reading also jermey klofta who was with buster morgan also doesent have the balls to come forward and tell the truth.I just hope that they get what they deserve but knowing the prosecutors in this county nothing will be done .Why should this be any different than any other case they handle.Logan county is in the genises book for most cases not convicted ,what does this say for our county prosectors not much .I just hope you two people have to live with what you have done.

What is justice in this case? A drunk driver strikes two drunk pedestrian who walked into his lane. The driver should be punished for not stopping at the scene, but what is just punishment? Both parties are at fault. Should the driver go to jail for a year, 5 years, death penalty? Revenge happy Americans demand blood. It's kind of ironic that so many Americans proclaim themselves to be Christian and yet are so unwilling to forgive. I'm always amazed by the Amish who literally practice what they preach when it comes to this principle. A few years ago a drunk driver ran over an Amish boy riding his bike on the road and killed him. The Amish family had all the reason and justification in the world to seek justice. Yet they didn't want to press charges. In fact they invited the drunk driver over for dinner and forgave him. The drunk driver was still prosecuted, but that is not what brought peace to the Amish Family. Peace came to them because they forgave their enemy. The Amish group in PA is another example. A crazed gunman entered their school house and killed a number of children and then himself. The Amish promptly forgave the killer and his family. They even gave his family some of the money that the world had sent them as an outpouring of support. I am sure they still hurt, but they have peace. Then there are the Goldman's whose son was murdered by OJ Simpson. They are nothing but bitter and are dragging themselves to hell because they can't find peace. It seems like an impossible thing to do - to forgive the killer of their son. But it is what Christ demands, it was what Christ did to his own killers.

First off, buster was the one who chose to drive drunk and to drive off from the scene of the accident. because of this he must pay for his crime. It doesn't matter if the man he killed has a d.u.i record or not, he is the driver this time. I know Buster and he should have went to prison years back when he beat Steve P. half to death in front of Moore's. There is nothing in the bible that says that people should not face justice for their deeds. Yes they need to be forgiven by those they hurt; but this is to protect them from hatered destroying their lives. Thank you for seeing the truth thru christ eye's.

Walking out in front of a vehicle, lets get this right. Anyone that has the report or who has been in contact with the OSP know that Jeff & Scott were struck on the SIDE of the road. Also, as far as crossing the road goes, where are the cross walks on any state route in Ohio. Show us that, then dig out your law degress. Next, how do you know that they were drunk, because everyone interviewed and tests did not confirm this? So get your facts. The person in the wrong is the driver and passenger for many reasons. Face facts and post facts. I've said it before and will say it again, there are people hurting over this, friends, family of the Gates family, and I am sure there are possibly some friends/ family of Mr. Morgans that are also hurting for a poor choice. If you are convicted of a DUI, you pay your dues, and you move on and learn from it. I don't remember hearing that Scott nor Jeff had a car in the area at all, so what they do in their free time, is thier choosing. And BTW, lets get this straight, they did not walk in front of him. Get your facts straight!

I've talked with people close to the case including law enforcement. The Gates were intoxicated and they did walk in front of an oncoming vehicle and they were struck in the driver's lane, not on the side of the road. Buster Morgan did not brake, swerve or stop, he just drove right through and didn't stop.
Don't spread lies and distort the truth by calling your uninformed opinions facts. They aren't the facts. Both parties are at fault.

I say Buster will get his due the same way he got Jeff. Some nite when he isn't expecting it and he is under the influence, some one will beat the living you know what out of him. Maybe he'll survive and maybe he won't. just give it time.

Some are much closer to this case than you might expect and have the real details. Think about this, if they were crossing on the drivers side, why then was all of the damage on the passenger side of the car.....They weren't in the middle of the road as stated. That is the TRUTH.

I never said they were stuck in the middle of the road. I said they were struck in the driver's lane. Bunny wrote they were struck on the side of the road, which is false. The blood and debris field starts in the driver's lane. They were walking in front of the driver's car and were struck in the driver's lane. Get it straight.

I cant believe that there are still people out here arguing and bickering over this. What is it going to prove or how is it helping? Everybody thinks they know all the facts but no one will ever really know exactly what happened that night. Both families are suffering for different reasons and I just don't see how people slinging mud at each other is helping.

BTW, Scott did not have two DUI's, he had one last January. Also, shame on anyone thinking that it is ok to say, oh he got hit by a Drunk driver that makes it all even... Nothing will ever be even. You lose a parent, have to deal with your own injuries, etc. Its a shame that Mr. Morgan and his passenger had no more regard for life that night. What if they had not driven right through these two, what if's can go on and on.
The other item that bothers me is that no one talks about Mr. Morgans arrest record. It is quite a book to read if you can find someone to show you. Drugs, forgery, DUI's, on and on.
Were they struck on the drivers side, no, they were struck on the right front of the automobile.
I personally, can't wait to find out how this happened, because with all of the evidence that has been presented to the FAMILY, this could have been prevented by the driver. So with that, I hope he burns in hell along with anyone that tries to justify Morgans actions. I will work on the forgiveness factor later.
