Kent, I know some people who live about five miles from Lakewood Park, it would be best to stay away from land purchases there.

Not that there aren't some good people that live there but the place has never lived up to what it was supposed to be. It's pretty much a second rate...or third or forth living area.

Great park - have enjoyed it for the last 5 years - nice people, beach is great - love listening and watching the ducks and geese mornings and evenings. Section in back not so great but around lake are nice homes, campers, people. Lake is well stocked and grandson does pretty well from dock. They have a neighborhood watch program and are good about following up on any complaints.

I have lived in Lakewood Park for one year. I bought a place there in September 2006. I love living here. However, I did have my place broke into and things stolen back in July. I imagine that it was somebody that lives in the park that did it. I have since installed ADT. Having your place broke into can happen any where you may live these days. On the whole, I find it a peaceful, quiet place to live.

I have lived in lakewood park since February 2007. While there are some areas in the park that may be considered less than desirable the areas around the lakes are very nice. I have not had any crime in the area that I live in. I understand this place has had a bad reputation in the past but I believe that they are trying to make improvements. You cannot beat the cost of living and Manchester is only about 15 miles away and it is a very nice little town. I take offense to the comments that say to run in the other direction. I would just be careful where you purchase. I have separated the park into 3 sections based on the street names. 1. The civil war area - be careful if you buy in this area. 2. The tree area - nice and 3. The indian area - this area and right on the lakes are the nices part of the park. It is very quiet and to my knowledge and experience there is not much if any crime in this area.
If you are looking for a nice, cheap, rural place to live - I recommend it.

Lakewood, is a beautiful place that has much potential, the only thing I would change immediately is get rid of the 3 bars at the entrance ;-)

I have had property there for 9 years and have never had any problems there. I own near the lake and they (management) are attempting to make improvements.

Some of the properties in there are nice, but on the other side of park, people livin in shacks and campers that would fall apart if moved...Maybe they tryin to clean it up lately..dunno

Rob Sr. If you haven't been in touch with the Lakewood Park Trustees, Please do so as soon as you get this information. There has been a lot of changes down here since 1996... My suggestion is to sell out any property that you may own in Lakewood Park. In 2006 - 2007 there were probably 15 or more Meth House bust in the park alone. Things not looking so good for Lakewood Park Residents. Lakewood park was a nice idea but it went all wrong and now most not all of the property's are dumps. 91 homes lots etc, were condemed by the county last year.....

Thanks for the info. I sent a property tax payment in and told them I'd be interested in selling out but haven't gotten a response either! Id there any chance that a Realtor would be of help?

Daily Horoscope for December 25

Aries

You've got a taste for adventure today, so you might decide to depart from tradition in some way and make it an unusual Christmas. You're certainly all set for a great time, and you'll want everyone else to enjoy themselves as much as possible. You'll probably eat and drink too much but, hey, it's Christmas! Isn't such excess par for the course?
