Maybe you should feel sorry for his entire family that is left back in Montana. He was doing what he loved, just like i'm sure you do at times. It just happened to be his job

Cliff died while doing something he loved. He and his family knew the risk involved with riding a Streamliner and accepted them. Nobody has a right to call him a fool for that. Yes, you only have one life to live, and the fools are those that do not live it to the fullest.
God speed Cliff you are missed already.

I agree. I feel sorry for anyone out there who doesnt follow there passion and goals in life. Then there's no point to existing. He died doing what his passion was and thats the only way to live with no regrets

How dare you!! I bet you sit on your fat butt all day doing nothing interesting. Just because he is a thrill seeker DOES NOT mean he didn't think life was precious. He died doing what he loved to do and I'll bet he had more fun in his 47 years than you will in your lifetime. Keep those type of comments to yourself and continue to have a boring life.

It seems to me the opportunity cost of doing what what he pleased is at a great cost to his family.

How come nobody says 'He died doing what he loved most' when someone crashes while driving drunk? Huh?

All I have to say is this: this blog is full of ignorant a**holes. First off, I am a friend of Cliff, and also one of his employees. I'm disgusted by the lack of compassion you have towards his friends, family, and coworkers(yes, Cliff did have a career beyond racing). Second, for those who ask why he tried to break 2-wheel records ----- think about this for awhile ---- why do you think we can fly on an airline at 600 mph, or drive a car at 100 mph and feel safe??? Because people like Cliff spent their lives trying to find better ways to accomplish unrealistic goals. If it wasn't for people like Mr. Gullett, we would not have the technology we have today. It takes a simple man to enjoy modern luxuries....It takes a great man to create those. What Cliff Gullett did will not only live on throughout history, but is sure to inspire new technology to find easier ways to do the things we all love. Next time you ride in your car on the interstate at 80mph, remember Cliff, and his passion about going faster...and doing it cleaner, and easier than anyone before him. RIP my friend!

Because driving drunk is stupidity! Racing is a passion that takes desire and brass!

I spent many a nights with Cliff in the shop and his office. He always said there is nothing that will make me more proud that to have one of my kids tell there friends I died doing what I love. I myself can not think of a better way to go.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Sagittarius

Slow down! You're trying to do too much and it's driving you - and everyone else - up the wall. What's more, if you're in too much of a hurry you'll start to become accident-prone and that will make you even more het up. Try to take any setbacks or domestic mishaps in your stride, otherwise you'll end the day feeling like a nervous wreck.
