Waldorf, The Ghetto?

Having grown up in Prince George's County and lived in Waldorf for a few years, Waldorf does have it's share of problems that are on the rise.. Yes, Waldorf has nice shopping facilities and restaurants but crime is up and constantly increasing.

Maybe her experience in Waldorf was very different from the lifestyle she grew up in, so it was different for her. I think that Waldorf symbolizes many communities that are "real", and a majority of them have their share of crime. Waldorf has become a haven for many businesses and the schools are good, but the quality of life has gone down over the years.

Is this really something to get upset over......??

Waldorf used to be a nice place to live and shop. Now it is turning into a southern PG County. The crime is going up. Strong arm robbery is up. Armed robbery is up. Shoot a few weeks back there was a bank robbery right by Red Robin. I was near by returning a T-Mobile phone. Go to the Theater after 7:00PM and you feel like you need a body guard. In the last month I have been assualted twice, once on a Metro Bus (actually in PG County) and once in the theater parking lot. Neither one I reported because what would the Police(P.G. County) or Sheriff (Charles County) do anyway other than take a report. I don't feel safe anymore so the first chance I am moving.

Part of what happens when PG and DC begin to crack down on crime..the crooks have to go somewhere.

I know what you mean about the theatre. I started taking my family into Alexandria to the Hoffman. 20 plus shows in one place and very nice inside. Bit of a drive but worth it for the experience.

so many people focus on what was and what is, don't you know that things will continue to get worse and worse the only thing we all can do is pray and ask God to help us and protect us in this day and age i live in a descent neighborhood but I can't say that it's as good as it was years ago times change and people have changed especially
morals and perspectives on what is good and what is bad

What do you suggest "Servant" and "Francine" do? They seem to trust in God, but I hope that they realize they must try to do something to help improve the situation, such as taking some type of active role in any of the many (i'm sure) efforts that are being made to halt some of this increasing crime in what seems to be a very nice area of Maryland --

crime is getting worse everywhere.

this is a result of kids not having a free, or at least cheap source of entertainment. all that there ever was for waldorf kids was my brothers place on the weekends.

we need cheap venues (i say $2 a person entry at most) where kids can play music, hang out with friends, get rowdy, meet people in a safe envirenment on weekdays after school.

when the kids have no place to play, then they play in the streets. and when people treat them like they are delinquents, they will eventually start acting like it.

i've been living in waldorf for almost 16 years. this place used to be so peaceful. now all the poser from PG and DC are up here and are ruining our neighborhoods.

Waldorf is the ghetto and when you say that you are labeled a racist! Charles County is ruined - overcrowded schools and roads, drugs, gang violence is way up and taking over, plus the county has become a haven for illegal immigrants to add to the problem. And people call this growth! PLEASE - gag me.
Look at PG County back 30 years ago - it was beautiful (from what I have been told) now it is a stink hole to put that mildly! If you ask people that were around back in those days they say PG County took a turn for the worse in the late 60's and early 70's because of desegregation. And now the disease is spreading south. In another 10 years the beginning parts of St. Mary's - Mechanicsville will be a slum too. Until the whole southern Maryland area is destroyed. But, wait you can't say nothing because you will be called a racist! Remember it is not politically correct to point out the truth! It is what is and there is nothing racist or bigoted about it.
In addition, the long time residents of Charles County (with very good incomes) have left the county in fear of their lives and nobody not the Sheriffs office did anything about the intimidation, threats and violence against the residents because they too are scared of the politically correct mob! It was OK that the long time resident’s civil rights, property rights, etc… were violated and stomped on! WRONG!
I truly feel for the good (and yes there are lots of great residents still there and suffering) residents in both PG and Charles County that are unable to move and live in consistent fear, on top of having to send their children to the worst public schools ever. PG County is the third wealthiest county in MD, but yet educationally so far behind they will never catch up and Charles County school were the best of the best now in my opinion they are not to far off the mark of PG County because Charles County has had to dumb down the current students to accommodate the students coming in that are educationally and functionally illiterate and too boot they have to cater and tailor the educational system to meet the illegal’s needs! What the hell is wrong with this picture?
I personally hate coming back because the whole area is destroyed! You all give a big fat thanks and round of applause to your liberal Democratic local corrupt officials, Steny (Anti-American) Hoyer and the new idiot MD Governor for that one!

I left Waldorf 2 years ago and went to LaPlata. Now I am seriously thinking of moving out of state. that's right, get the hell out of Southern Prince George's county. Folks moved down to PG County to get away from the Crime. Well what they have done is bring the crime with them. The parents move and thier loving children are the Crime problem. "Not my Child" Bull, if you don't think that it is your child. Juvenel crime is on a high. "You All" need to stop having babies from different men and teach your Children Social Skills. Then and only then will things change

Charles County is a wasteland of apologists for criminals and corrupt politicians. I'll be getting out of Maryland altogether.

I'll probably move up to Idaho and live at Ruby Ridge.

I have lived in Waldorf for 30yrs. Gone to the schools, and have children who are now in the schools here. I am a successful person who owns property, makes good money, and volunteers.

Most if not all of the neighborhood centers, and community places (although there were few) are now closed. The playground areas where their used to be basketball games, and football games, have been shut down. There was not too much for us to do growing up, but now there is even less. It is a shame that no one took into account all of the children and how leaving them OUT of the equation would lead to overcrowding, restlessness, and desparity. There are no venues for any of the young people. My children chronically complain of boredom. Nothing to do but watch T.V. and play video games. No where to go around here..we run out of money eating and shopping all day. So now what. I try to take them to a park to play, with chained fences on the areas in my neightborhood so they can't play tennie or something either. There are not too many pools open to the public anymore so that is out and taking them to Six Flags or Kings Dominion all of the time is out too.

Oh and Please lets not leave out the media and their input of what our young people should be acting like, looking like, what values they should hold, etc. Parents are no longer as involved for one reason because there are not too many careers in the area availble that will pay enough to support a family we have to commute for hours to get to work. This leaves the T.V., radio, and movies raise our children.

Some people want to blame government and the views of others for the behavior of the children. Its not just immigrants, or blacks because I see more than just them getting arrested and robbing stores... we can't blame one race or community. We ALL need to take responsibility for our own actions and making things acceptable that we all know should not be.

For example, the democrats or republicans do not control what we choose to watch on TV or whether or not we choose for our young children to be bombarded with sexaual deviace, violence, hatred, and unsuitable language. WE DO! This is why the issue is
not just affecting Charles County, but alot of counties across the nation, including Fairfax, and Loudon in VA.

I can go on all day... but if we teach AND demonstrate values and show repect as we were taught to years ago we can have an effect on the outcome of how our communities will be.

My family moved to Waldorf from Ft. Wash when I was in 8th grade (about 11 years ago). Waldorf was OK at first, especially compared to PG county, but it seemed to just get worse and worse. I moved to the Dallas area for college, and everytime I go back home I realize how awful it is. When I go shopping, there are items all over the floors and just so many people straight from the ghetto. I am living in such a nice area in the Dallas suburbs now, and would never move back to SoMD. Obviously, Texas has an immigration problem, but you can get away from it in certain areas. It is too late for Waldorf.

Waldorf is the pits. ANYONE who has EVER lived in any other part of the country can see it in a heartbeat. Those of you who are Waldorf apologists just can't see the stink through the crap.

But don't move...stay right where you are. The rest of the world doesn't need your infections.

I say put up a wall in White Plains, close the Nice Bridge, and try and save what's left of SMIBville for those of us who wnat to live and work away from the stench of the dregs of DC.
