They are getting a bad reputation like Mabscott. If you go thru town, go the speed limit. If you go by Priddys, do the speed limit. If you are at the red light in Crab Orchard at the Little General, do the speed limit. If you are at Lester Square, yep you guessed it, do the speed limit. Oh yeah, wear your seat belt too. Some of the police officers has to realize, this isnt the police dept. you no longer work at. I wonder why they no longer work there????

That is simple.............obey the laws of this great state and you will not get stopped. I you speed in Beckley, you will get stopped, if you speed on the turnpike, you will get stopped, if you speed in Oak Hill, you guessed it, you will get stopped. Just obey the law and you will be OK.

I wonder why they no longer work there???? well i work for the Department and are policy is to give 10 miles over the speed limit that should be good enough so should we just sit back and let everyone speed that strip of roadway is very dangerous and alot of bad vehicle accidents has happened and there is not a police department out there that dont give out citations so i dont see why you are talking about any police department speed limits are posted for reasons and enforced for you and your familys safety

I realize alot of people don't like the police,But the town of sophia ia great little town and the police there give alot of breaks to people for speeding, i was stopped by the former chief of police their and he just warned me and ask me to slow down,I realize that sometimes people get tickets and it creates a hardship on them , but what if we didn't have the police, what would it be like then, mt hat is off to the men in blue at sophia, thanks you for your kindness to me.

so it is ok for me to be pulled over because oh let me see........im going the limit, seatbelt is on, kids are buckled up and im then told my son needs to be in a car seat because he, the officer, said so. my son is 10, over the weight limit, over the height limit and yet i get a warning for speeding, which i was not doing since i just pulled out of my road to go down main street, but i get a carseat ticket? was that fair???

So if anybody needs a job as a police officer, go to the Sophia PD, they hire all the fired BCPD. They are now up to 4.

And if you listen to your scanner it's a nonstop harassment event. As soon as one of them go on duty they start hammering people. But as you said they are all fired BCPD. Now they're stuck in an 8 dollar per hour nightmare with no hope for much of a future. I would bet they are angry at the world because of limited career choices. It shows in the way they have to be constantly stomping on people. But hammer away guys,you're stuck at the bottom of the food chain where you belong. You were fired for being bad cops and now you have to pay the price by working these little shit towns. ENJOY!

I knew of the the former BCPD unit. I have to say he was very nice person that I know for a few years and my wife know for many years. I also know by him and his family and other officer. His kindness was the reason he did not work at BCPD anymore. It wasn't by his choice he would give you the doubt and with god in his heart it was a problem for him to hand out tickets beacause BCPD belives that if you pull someone over then there must be something you were doing wrong therfor I must give you a ticket even when you was not doing anything wrong.

Go figure, people trashing a police department for doing their jobs. Sophia police officers do their jobs well. So what, if some of the other officers worked at a larger department. There is no boss hogg in Sophia (he is in Mabscott). If you break the law then you should be concerned. You are the ones putting everyones lives at risk. So stop your complaining. To all of the officers, I would like to say "Thank You" and keep up the good work.

Police are Police!! Point Blank. Yes, some are leniant than others in Sophia but hey that's in all city/states! Be thankful they are there when you need them, even if they are close by.The have a job to do and it appears they aren't sitting around eating doughnuts! THAT'S A PLUS!!

I havent had any problem from Sophia cops yet, but I know that the Lester cops are stupid! They will pull you over for breathing too hard....and why do they need a PD for anyway??? There is nothing in Lester and if you link, you will miss it anyway! They are out there to write as many tickets as they can...but yet their officers do not have proper uniforms or badges!!

Oh I like the police chief in Sophia. He dont believe in pulling you over for doing nothing wrong. But I know of somebody that got pulled over twice because the officer said he didnt have his seatbelt on but he did, both times. Once, he made a u-turn in the middle of the road "because he didnt have it on", then said he was pulled over due to a "stolen sticker" on the plates. That officer must be a really good officer if he already knows the sticker was stolen?? He needs to play the lottery!!!

JUST MOVED TO SOPHIA AFTER Katrina hit my home in Miss and have only good things to say about Sophia police they have been nothing but courtious to me and find due to this police force i feel safe in my new home!
