"Gingrich Is Quitting the Race (Just Give Him a Little Time)," by Mark Leibovich in Mooresville, N.C.: "Gingrich arrived at the Penske Racing plant here on Thursday accompanied by a large security detail protecting him from a big threat - of rain.....[I]t costs taxpayers about $40,000 a day to pay for Mr. Gingrich's Secret Service detail." http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/27/us/politics...

Bush's neocons were talking about going into Iraq and kicking Saddam's butt before 9/11 even happened and were delighted that 9/11 gave them an excuse. Watch this ABC video that quotes Bush's first Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill as saying that invading Iraq was talked about in Bush's very first cabinet meeting. Much as Romney's neocons are talking now about invading Iran and kicking their butts. Seems some people never learn.

I'd be very surprised and disappointed if an incoming president didn't have contingency military plans to counteract problem dictators and troubles that had preceded his time in office. Google keywords Clinton, Iraq. But back to the present - Congress is preparing to hold Eric Holder in contempt over stonewalling them in the Fast and Furious scandal.

O'Neill says he quit....who knows. Regardless, I don't doubt for a minute that the neocons were discussing invading Iraq before 9/11. I guess you mean the Republicans in the House are "preparing to hold Eric Holder in contempt over stonewalling them in the Fast and Furious scandal"....:)

There appears to be bipartisan angst for Holder building in Congress. Boren, Kind, Rahall and Green were each one of the 31 Democratic co-signers on a June 3, 2011 letter to Obama demanding he direct Holder and the DOJ to cooperate with the ongoing congressional investigation into Fast and Furious. To date, the Obama administration has failed to cooperate with that investigation, providing only about 7,000 pages worth of more than 80,000 lawfully-subpoenaed documents. House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa has set the stage to hold Holder in contempt of Congress in the near future if he doesn’t turn over the information. Holder has provided no legal justification for his decision to withhold the documents and information he’s currently keeping from Congress. Other Democrats — including Rep. John Dingell of Michigan — have been critical too. Just this week, Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, told TheDC that he’s not entirely thrilled with Holder either and that the decision to remove Holder from office would be one that would have to come from the president Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/23/more-democr...

"Sen. Doesn't sound to me as though he's on the side of the Republicans. I don't know enough about Holder to know if he should be removed from office or if this is just more rightwing rant against "anything Obama". However, I would be willing to bet that all those Democrats you listed are, like Rahall, blue dog Democrats who depend on conservative votes to be reelected. You have to note that letter is dated almost a year ago so it's taking a while for that "angst" to build. Other than that, what else is there to say.

Yeah, old blue dog Dingell - Talking about Obamahealthcare - Dingell says it "takes a lot of hard work and preparation to create a system that will “control the people.”

"On some issues, though, he (Dingell)reflects the conservative values of his largely Catholic and working-class district. He supported the Vietnam War until 1971. Although he backed the Johnson Administration's civil rights bills, he opposed expanding school desegregation to Detroit suburbs via mandatory busing. He takes a fairly moderate position on abortion. He has worked to balance clean air legislation with the need to protect manufacturing jobs. An avid sportsman and hunter, he strongly opposes gun control, and is a former board member of the National Rifle Association. For many years, Dingell has received an A+ rating from the NRA." I found this also: "In Washington, D.C., John, Jr. attended Georgetown Preparatory School and then the House Page School when he served as a page for the U.S. House of Representatives from 1938 to 1943. He was on the floor of the House when President Roosevelt gave his famous speech after the bombing of Pearl Harbor." Whoa! now that is impressive. How old is he?

Too old to still be in Congress - need new blood (and term limits) I guess every Congressman's dream is to make it to 100 and still be in office.
