All i wanted was some honest opinions from somebody with at least a little common sense. Obviously that is not you. I am not making any decisions solely on what anyone on topix has to say. I am just interested in there opinions. I will more than likely move out of wv anyway. And by the way, the racial slurs show just how high your iq is as well.

Basically, we have it in the ground here in the USA, we dig it up then sell it, the russian's and the ukrians are buying it up like mad dog's, be nice if we could keep it here for our resource's, but they have caught on to our American ideas and are trying to become energy independent on their own.... so were selling the crap out of ,coal to them.

The problem is the extreme wages paid to the usa miners. To remain globally competitive wages must be cut now. A return to the days of paying by the ton produced would help too

Extreme wages? When is the last time you have been to a mine? You might drive to a mine sometime and check out the vehicles there the miners drive it might give you a clue about how wrong you are.

Mining is extremely mechanized and anymore is rather unskilled. Years ago even children could do it till the advent of chaild labor laws. Unskilled work isn't worth much these days either so it all adds up. Cut wages or lose your job

Coal will continue to be mined, here and around the world. It may not be used as much here, due to foolish epa rules and depending on which administration comes about, it will be demonized or made easier to use. The problem for most will be, other countries that continue to use it, will see cheaper energy cost than us, business will grow, while the US economy will suffer, along with the US tax base. You think the debt is bad now? Its going to get worse.

This is the price of political correctness, minimum wage laws, taxes to support the leacers and parasites and unions.
Thank a democrat for the destruction of the country

yes cut wages so the coal barons can increase thier profit, or they will just shut down until you are hungry enough to dig thier coal cheaply.

The coal barons just want to depleat our state of its recources as cheaply as possible and leave us the mess.

In alaska the states citizens are compensated for the oil beneath thier feet, something to think about as the.vast majority of wealth from coal is shipped over seas....

Its not just black rocks in a hole the Chinese will demand in assets, its many of our other products and resources, and not just natural resources. The whole country will be up for debt repayment.

It's worse than you think, there's even talk of Bankruptcy at the UMWA. It's not just the companies that are going under. The days of the good, steady jobs are over.

Companies would also like to bring back children to run the mines. Children get out the child-sizes low veins hats. The mines needs low paid workers.

If this is true let the politians come here and mine the coal. They are the ones that sold out all of United states industries. They can go underground and see how danger a job it is. They made the agreements with China not the miners. I got some boots and hard hat they can borrow.

Thats because the companies cared about their employees and the script that was spendable at the company store carried healthful items, not alcohol and drugs. Let us not forget your ancestors migrated here from other countries to work in those mines because they knew what was good for them. The companies made sure it was good for the entire miners family

(How dangerous a job it is.) Spelling correcting I'am just angry that it could be true. Our country borrowed money. The working man has to pay for goverment greed.
