In 2003, the Georgia-based firm opened a Washington DC office. Century Strategies "is poised to earn handsome fees from the [Bush-Cheney '04] re-election campaign and from the Republican National Committee as a key vendor for voter contact and mobilization.... Reed's firm received a total of $4.3 million from the RNC and the Bush campaign in 2000 for doing voter calls and direct mail."

+ Century Strategies earned more than $300,000 from Enron for mounting grassroots lobbying campaigns to help build backing for energy deregulation, via Karl Rove.

Americans for Prosperity is led by Tim Phillips, who was a former partner with Ralph Reed's Century Strategies. That organization became well-known when it was revealed in a Senate investigation that convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff was laundering money through Century Strategies and Americans for Tax Reform.
Presidential candidates who attended their events included: Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Ron Paul, Sam Brownback, Mitt Romney, and Fred Thompson. Speakers included John Stossel, Steve Lonegan, Dinesh D'Souza, Art Laffer, John Fund, Steve Moore, Herman Cain, Dr. Barry Poulson, and AFP founder David H. Koch.
A conference brought together conservative activists to develop strategies to counter left-wing bloggers and develop conservative New Media techniques.

+* Let Freedom Ring is a new, conservative "grassroots" 501c4 group set up by a one million dollar from Dr. Jack Templeton, son of John Templeton, Jr., an influencial money changer. "The son of renown investor John Templeton, is in charge of the Templeton Foundation, which, last year, poured some $60 million into numerous projects has funded a wide variety of projects, such as the theory of 'intelligent design' and the re-election of George W. Bush.

* Tea Party Patriots developed by lobbyist-run groups Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks to harass Democratic representatives by instructing to "Pack the hall. Yell out and challenge the Representatives statements early. Get him off his prepared script and agenda. Stand up and shout and sit right back down."

Well, dipshit, I attended a townhall in protest. Nobody paid me, and I don't watch ANY lamestream media news, so you cannot blame my attendance on Fox. I'm not a member of the GOP, so that theory is out the window too. Want to try again and figure out why I was there protesting?
I think your time would be better spent gathering lists of those LOBBYISTS who shove these dumb laws down our throats. Or perhaps you've already drunk too much Kool-Aid.
Power to the conservatives of both parties!!

For the americans who protect and support illegals, it is easier for them to turn a blind eye to the illegals then to help clean up the mess. It is easier for the neutered to act totally stupid and pay the bill, then to speak against illegals and to take a stand. Most of these sniveling worms who support illegal aliens have no balls, it is much easier to go along with the crowd then to make waves. I have heard several estimates on how many illegals are uninsured, 47 million is one estimate - I say deport 30 million illegal aliens and suddenly the uninsured count is manageable. Once the numbers fall audit the hospital(for and not for profit - no difference) CDM master file to see what the bastards are charging to cover illegal aliens who won't pay their bill. And finally stop paying insurance benefits to the queers who butt fuck each and expect you and me to pay their problems. Let them die!

1. Name-calling and cursing is a characteristic used by many children. Why would you feel the need to rage in your response?

Do you curse people in person or only hiding behind a monitor?

2. I suppose you know that all U.S. citizens possess the right to their opinions. Your opinion is no more important than the next person's.

3. Your response did NOT address the political opinion...that the GOP is funding and providing GOP MOBs at townhall meetings that are listed on their web-site.

4. You control YOUR behavior (IMHO, not very well). Please post your license for forcing anyone to do what you say.

5. Do you know me? What would make you assume you know how someone else should expend their energies or time?

***Please post your name, address, and identifying information to prove that you attended a townhall meeting in protest, no one paid you and that you are not a member of a GOP organization targeted to protest healthcare reform.

1) In person, also. I'm not afraid to be ME.
2) And your point is ...?????
3) Re-read my post then. The GOP is not funding anything. Give me proof of the accusation.(There isn't any. The GOP is trying to overtake the grassroots movement, but that isn't working either.)
4) LOL you don't like my behavior? And...????? I didn't know I was here to make you happy.

Sea Turtle:

GOP aka RENT-A-MOB, 2000 Presidential election

Nov 28, 2000 | On the surface, it looked like the good people of Miami at their worst again. Last week's melee at the county offices here -- followed by the local canvassing board's abrupt cancellation of a hand recount -- had all the trademarks of Miami's notorious tantrum politics. Screaming, shoving, fist-waving, intimidation, ties to Elian Gonzalez and even hints of good ol' Cuban-American political corruption.

But the fact is that the fracas at Miami's recount headquarters was engineered and carried out by Republican Party operatives imported from the heartland, far from South Florida.

The halt of the Miami-Dade County hand count, where 10,750 ballots remain uncounted -- more than enough to flip the outcome of the Florida election or further buttress George W. Bush's lead in the state -- dealt a devastating blow to Al Gore's presidential campaign.

The incident -- the ugliest single set piece of the Election 2000 epic and possibly the most decisive one -- was set in motion by one imported GOP operative: Rep. John Sweeney, R-N.Y., who from an office in that same county building has led the Miami fight against the recount.

But Sweeney wasn't alone. According to the Miami Herald, he had a few helpers, including Elizabeth Ross, a staffer for Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., and Thomas Pyle, an aide to House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

London Sunday Times correspondent Tom Rhodes, who was present during the protest, says he overheard one GOP protester on a cellphone in the midst of that political mosh pit bragging that he had tipped off Bush campaign strategist Karl Rove about the rally. "I just told Rove," Rhodes overheard. As with the presence of Ross and Pyle, the call demonstrated that these weren't just protesters lured off the streets by the party, but connected, dyed-in-the-wool party operatives.

I'm going to contact the GOP and see if they will pay us to go to tea parties. Apparently, they're handing out cash like candy for just this type of thing, in your book.
I wonder how that will go?

And, FYI, "Oy vay" is a term for exasperation. Look it up.

1. It is only your opinion that I "rage" in my response. YES I curse at people in ral life (as I've already answered).
2. Your opinion is not important either.(PS this was not a question.)
3. The GOP is trying to hijack the grassroots movement of fed up patriotic Americans. It hardly means they are funding anything. The GOP doesn't even fund local Republican candidates.
4. Again, your opinion isn't important either. My license is the First Amendment.
5. I don't know for sure, have we met? You assume an awful lot yourself. Pot, meet kettle.

MOB BEHAVIOR COMPLIMENTS OF wealthy GOP-backed: http://recessrally.com/

Phil Brinkley, grassroots analyst with the Earth is Round think tank, said the Astroturf efforts are similar to the “Brooks Brothers riots” that happened during the 2000 election recount in Florida, where paid Republican staffers were sent to Florida, where they pretended to be regular voters and disrupted the vote recount.

“Corporations are using pretend ‘grassroots’ organizations and lobbying firms to coordinate these attacks,” Brinkley said.“The GOP has nothing to offer as an alternative to health care reform, so instead it’s resorting to mob action in a coordinated effort to cut off any discussion of the issue. The Astroturf activists aren’t interested in a rational discussion, they’re like someone yelling fire in a crowded theater.”

FAUX GOP MOBs began during 2000 presidential election - Bush/ Cheney election stolen

This angry mob, which successfully stopped the recount in Miami-Dade County during the 2000 election standoff, was portrayed by the media as an uprising by Florida voters.

Here are the identities of the protesters:

1. Tom Pyle, policy analyst, office of House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Tex.).
2. Garry Malphrus, majority chief counsel and staff director, House Judiciary subcommittee on criminal justice.
3. Rory Cooper, political division staff member at the National Republican Congressional Committee.
4. Kevin Smith, former House Republican conference analyst and more recently of Voter.com .
5. Steven Brophy, former aide to Sen. Fred D. Thompson (R-Tenn.), now working at the consulting firm KPMG.
6. Matt Schlapp, former chief of staff for Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), now on the Bush campaign staff in Austin.
7. Roger Morse, aide to Rep. Van Hilleary (R-Tenn.).
8. Duane Gibson, aide to Chairman Don Young (R-Alaska) of the House Resources Committee.
9. Chuck Royal, legislative assistant to Rep. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.).
10. Layna McConkey, former legislative assistant to former Rep. Jim Ross Lightfoot (R-Iowa) now at Steelman Health Strategies.
