Regardless of extinuating circumstances or the "WHOLE" entire story,a man was brutallty murdered by a heinous animal and two equally heinous animals are guilty of trying to hide this horrible crime. I didn't know the victim nor am I familiar with the savage beasts that took him from this earth. I don't believe there are any ACCEPTABLE excuses for these savage beasts and they do not deserve to live. I believe in an "eye-for-an-eye". I would love to have just one minute alone with these individuals to put them down like the savage beasts that they are. There is no excuse for there further existence on this earth! They don't deserve life!!

Gazelle Wild was murdered August 2, 1901 in Pierce City, Lawrence, Missouri, she was a 23 year old white girl, and a 23 year old Negro man by the name of Will Godley was falsely accused of her murder, he was lynched, his grandpa was killed and peter Hampton was cremated, all the Negros were burned out of their homes and fled to the wood for their safety, all the Negros were ran out of Pierce City. I would like to know what ever happened to Joe Lark and the rest of the Negro race that lived in Pierce City when this took place.

I just sent my comment on the Banishment is the Lot of the Negro, People of Pierce City, Missouri or Frenzied, August 2, 1901, about 1,ooo whites pulled Will Godley from his jail cell and lynched over something he did not do and that was murder Gazelle Wild when she was walking home from church that sunday, they also arrested to other men that had nothing to do with it, Eugene Barrett and Joe Lark. All the Negros in Pierce City were burned out and ran out of town, it was said that a negro name Starks committed the murder, I would like to read the story to see what is said in the Pierce City,Mo. newspaper. My great grandparents home was in Pierce City and my grandma and her siblings were born there, they also lived there in 1901 and was one of the families that had to flee for their lives. I just found out that this ordeal took place when I was reading the Joplin Globe newspaper on line, I am researching my family history and the place I had to start with was Pierce City, Missouri and every time I would call to see if any with our family still lived in Pierce City it was not any people there with the last name, now I see why, it is not any more Black people in Pierce City any more, in 1901 they were all ran out like the true story Rosewood, Florida, I want to come to Pierce City and visit, I hope that I do not get lynched.

In reference to the posting by Shirley Boston; I was raised in Pierce City from the 4th grade until I graduated from high school there. I can tell you right now that Pierce City isn't that same place that discriminates against race or religion. I am not sure if any negroes now reside there at this present time. However, back in 1901 I am absolutely sure that you would be hard- pressed to find any small town of similar size that did not discriminate against race and/or religion. Discrimination back then was prevalent in all communities large or small. I am terribly sorry and and ashamed of those actions back then as I am a caucasion and do not agree with what happened. However, it is appauling to me that decendants of these individuals are trying to gain money through litigation because of what their distant realitives endured. Pierce City is a great place to raise a family and for children to grow up in. When people attack Pierce City verbally it burns my a--. I have alot of pride and respect for the town that I still call my home, even though I now reside in Mount Vernon. I will always support that town, as well as the people that reside there. There are many good people as well as a few bad ones there...just like any place in this world. I guarantee that any race or religion is NOW welcome there with open arms.

To Debbie West; Much respect to you and your family. I am terribly sorry for your loss. You are absolutely right....WTF does that banishment have to do with the murder of your uncle? This is your forum and people (as well as myself) should respect that. I just have a hard time when people attack the town that I call my home. One question; Are you the same Debbie West that is a paramedic and managed SBCAD?

Google Dennis Bisher and read the trial transcripts.
You might try the Shell knob news websites and SEARCH Dennis Bisher or William Nance.
Read for your self.

Daily Horoscope for June 18

Sagittarius

It's a great day for mixing and mingling with people you always get on well with, so try not to keep yourself to yourself too much as that would be a real shame on a day when you're feeling so convivial and friendly. Speaking of friends, you'll enjoy spending time with them now, especially if you share some core values.
