Drugs and minors in Woodstock

How do so many minors walk around Woodstock so wasted and get away with it? I was shocked when I went there to visit. Who supplies them and where are the police on these matters.If I can see this in one hour being there, how is it that this goes on? The village green was riddled with conversations of Herein and other drugs. Woodstock is supposed to be about Love and Peace but all I saw was a very toxic town.

I just love the assumption you have that "Woodstock is supposed to be about Love and Peace." It is a town, not a festival. The festival was in Bethel, and it's been over since 1969.
Actual people live and work in Woodstock. It is not some kind of Hippie Disney where you can criticize the management for not arranging things as you think you should be.

Also, I'd be willing to bet hard cash that most of those intoxicated minors you're complaining about were tourists, just like you. People who actually live in town don't hang around the green trying to show off their druggie street cred. Townies have homes to go to.

Maybe before calling a town "toxic" you should get to know the people who live there year round, instead of passing judgment based on the debris that blows through town and fetches up on the green.

May- first of all I wasn't passing judgment-It was an observation-also I know it's a town. Go to Social Servces or probation dept in Ulster before you put up your money and ask them what goes on there.Your living in a dream world if you think that the Village green is just tourist- I'm not judging anyone. Also I never passed judgement on the working people of Woodstock either, nor am I trying to arrange Woodstock the way I want it. I have visited Woodstock for over 30 years so save the ( I don't know tourist bit).

Well one of the reasons that drugs run rampant in Woodstock MIGHT be.
Corruption in local law enforcement. What do you think?

the correct name is, "Weirdstock"

Wow- I am pleased that someone else responded- Thank You!! You will notice that in Wierdstock their are no skate boarders. Also if you have a bad tail light on your car - you get stopped- but if you have a pocket full of Dirty X you will probably be all right with it. They media should quit hyping up Woodstock as this mystical place. It isn't- There is nothing for the young people to do.
They stand on the green- That's it. Try to conceal their business. there is a lot of breakins -car damage too. If the media saw Woodstock for what it is half of the drugs would go away.

Just to let you know I myself grew up there and do not feel as if the police do anything to prevent the drug abuse unless it causes other crimes. It is sad to watch. My niece has gotten involved in drugs and has chosen "the green" to hang out in. Lets face it the 60's woodstock involved a great deal of drug use as well it has just been commercialized into peace and love.

Jcs -- You are right - There's so much drug activity there. The children who live in and around Woodstock are loaded up with all sorts of stuff. You do have to wonder why it goes on. I don't like putting down the local authorities but
come on - it's in plain site- everywhere. I know also that these problems exist in other towns too but not that visable. Thank You for your imput. I may suspect that there's a chance that some prominent Woodstock children are involved.Like I said if the hype went away maybe the attraction would back off too.
