Newburgh police identify man shot and killed Tuesday

Police have identified a man who was killed Tuesday on Liberty Street. Delvin Pemberton, 29, got into van with two other men just north of the Clinton Street intersection and was gunned down moments later, police said.

why do you guys always have to write in articles when someone gets killed that the person has been in trouble or "dealt with the cops before" LET HIM REST IN PEACE

Many of Topix articles are placed by an automated format - if "Newburgh, NY" is in the article it gets placed. It is up to the editors (in this case me), to determine whether the article remains. I place an average of 5 articles a day related to Newburgh and surrounding areas and remove around two or three that were duplicates, related to our area only vaguely, or were boring.

Many of the people who read the Newburgh Topix site are those who have moved from this area but are still interested in home-town news, and those who still live here but who are traveling. It s not our job to be selective. As news editors we report, never select. If we did that we'd be slanting the news as some television stations have recently been accused of doing.
