Our citizens are traveling by the plane load to India, Thailand, and Singapore just to save money on their major procedures (Bypasses, replacements, angioplasty, etc.), because they charge 1/10th the cost of U.S. hospitals. These are NOT third world countries. They have state-of-the-art facilities, their surgeons are well trained in the U.S., patients get private rooms, while their families stay in posh accommodations and receive free tours of the city during the patient's stay.
And their success rate is higher than the U.S.!!!
We need to fix this problem and I see nothing coming from the right side of the aisle. Bush offered no attempt at reform, so at least Obama is getting the ball rolling.
Anything is better than the mess we have now!!!
