We go on the Maid once every year and when we called in early spring to make our reservations, we were told that their not accepting any due to the fact that the boat wasdue for a dry dock NYS inspection.
Then today I found out that she sank at the dock. I hope she is restored and placed back in service as we found it was a relaxing experance while on-board.

to bad so sad, the major issue would be how to get it out of the lake for the rehab... if i can remember correctly she was built on the lake, so it seems quite a task to get her out without taking it apart? am i right?

We were heading for NY this week and planned on our annual stop at Hammondsport and to get some of my favorite chili on the Maid. Was very disturbed to hear and read about what happened. I hope someone can bring her back to life somehow. As we visit our daughter in NYC each year, this was going to be something to look forward to year after year.

Please stop trying to save a sinking ship. It hasn't been taken care of for years and looks like a ship wreck more than anything. There will be a petition soon to recommend it be removed with strict deadlines. There is reason for serious concern considering the boat has sunk twice. Time to make room for a nice safe boat to come in.

Amen to my fellow laker from the north end. The boat simply needs to be removed from the water. We have such a beautiful landscape all around us with an abandoned factory right in the middle of it. Though I love the concept of a tour/dinner boat on the lake, the Keuka Maid is not the answer. There has been little or no maintenence on it since it switched hands a few years ago. Please remove it before it sinks again.

I knew of the wedding sinking. What was the second sinking and when????

We always loved the KM. Excellent food and trip on the lake.

I've noticed pictures of the Keuka Maid going around the Internet in the act of starting to sink (or being drained after having sunk). The caption? "FOR SALE - Oh it's supposed to do that. Super secret submarine mode."

Wake up Hammondsport. The Keuka Maid has been an accident waiting to happen for over a decade. No maintenance, altercations made without approval of the USCG and not engineered by a marine architect. How can you even consider trying to keep a drowning whale afloat? Gee, it's only sunk twice. You're lucky it was at dock and empty. It's an eyesore, an environmental boil, and a death trap - all berthed 50 yards from protected wetlands. Where are all the Greenies and Ducks Unlimited guys?

I hope they can get that huge saltine box out of the lake without too much pollution remaining. I wish they never built that ugly boat to begin with. But, I do miss mooning it when it goes by!

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Capricorn

You'll have a fabulous time if you're longing to see what's on offer in the sales, especially if you want to buy yourself some new clothes or cosmetics. However, you won't pay much attention to how much you're spending, and may even deliberately avoid thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and don't go overboard if you can't afford it.
