What kind of city is Batesville?

The police are bullies, There sole task is to keep anything from hitting the media that may make all-mighty Batesville look bad.
Have you heard about the 'massage' parlor that was ran out of town?
Have you heard about the people dealing cocaine?
Have you heard about the school's resource officer being fired from the school for lewd and immoral conduct on the school's property (paid for by taxpayers)?
Have you heard about kids being abused in the school system?(Don't worry unless you have a child with special needs though)?
This town is fake. It's being paid for by families with big bucks to be made to look like Mayberry. It may not be worse than other towns, but it certainly is NOT as good as the police, newspaper and radio station want you to think!

Pete has pointed out another cover up by the Batesville Police Dept. Demoting officer Gandy Browning from his duties at the high school is not enough. He is no role model to the children in the community and he has made more unethical decisions while on duty too. He thinks he is God's gift to Batesville, but he needs to be relieved of his duties for his misconduct.

And this man is running for Sheriff of Ripley county? Is Gandy Browning a joke, or something? And the tax payers are not saying anything? You got to be kidding me. I thought public office was about being honest, having character, and integrity, and putting thoes three things before the office. He's a role model? For who? I hope not our children. Wake up America. Wake up Batesville. Wake up Ripley County Tax payers. Vote for Tom Grills, Sheriff of Ripley County. There is no other choice in this election.

Why do Pete and Paul care about Batesville when they are from "Cincinnati". Why does Fran care when she is from "Indianapolis" Pete, you should have throw in a few more "have you heard" comments just to make you look a little smarter than you already do. Maybe juice up your topix post a little more. Paul,"wake up!", if you live in Cincinnati, you can not vote in Ripley County. The only thing your post is missing is the "have you heard" comments. You should have thrown one in to appear smarter than you are. Ask Pete, he can tell you. Your post sounds politically motivated. If I am guessing, I am sure you are someone who was arrested by Gandy Browning. And Fran, get on any topix forum in any city and someone is bashing the police department. It's always someone who feels like they got the shaft (arrested), when in fact the cops were only doing their jobs. I am sure that is where these comments come from. Trash from out of town that got arrested by a Batesville Police Officer, maybe even Gandy Browning. I enjoy living in Batesville so if you don't like it, stay out and keep your trash with you. Believe it or not, you can not believe everything you read or "heard"(Pete). Too bad you have learn this from a topix forum.

We don't live in Batesville, but our camper is set up at Thousand Trails on Rt. 46 and we LOVE the area. We are there just about every weekend from April to November.

We have had no experience with the police, only with the residents. Everyone has been polite, informative, helpful, and those are some of the reasons we continue to shop & dine in Batesville. We could go to Harrison or Hamburg or even to Greenville, but we choose Batesville.

We have have a very professional police department. We consider ourselves lucky to have them.

I live in Batesville and I agree there was a coverup when Gandy was caught at the high school acting inappropriately. I have a child at the high school and just recently heard about what happened. I don't believe he is an example of the average police officer in Batesville but he definately isn't a good example for the kids.

You hit the nail on the head except, sadly, Gandy is the best the PD has going them. The PD has always sucked. And yeah this town is fake...again, always has been. The people who put up the best front are the worst ones. Hated growing up here and hate it now. The ones who look down on everyone else are the ones who will see their day.

I've lived here for over 5 years now and I also work in Batesville and it's a neat little town. You will find the good, the bad, and the ugly in every town and it's also here.
Like any town it's what you make of it!

I live on Central Ave.....seems like most of the trash in this town can be found on this website...not in my neighborhood

Why is it a "neat little town". It looks like a boring place with not much to do. What do people do for entertainment in this town? Where do people go on the weekends for free time recreation? Is this a Republican, conservative town or what? It sounds pretty snobbish from some of the posts. It sounds very "white bread".

I can't think of anything good to say about Batesville...except for I love the light posts they put up on East Pearl Street...and thank GOODNESS the Big Four is finally gone. My husband and I left Batesville and moved to the greater Cincinnati area. Sick of the perverted cops (Gandy) and the rampant heroin use that tax payers pay for. What school district provides private transportation for a kid who go caught using heroin on the bus? A fucked up school district. Everyone is so judgmental and full of themselves. I would rather not raise my kids to be narrow minded twits. Goodbye Batesville!
