Sounds like a couple members of the American Criminal Liberties Union to me. I can only imagine how loudly they would be squealing about their child(ren)'s safety not being looked after if some registered sex offender got into the school undetected and assaulted their child(ren). I can envision the lawsuit already....

Joggle my memory here, Sarge. I remember reading this but can't remember where it is that it happened. I recall a couple of parents being upset because the school's security system would scan visitors' driver's licenses to see if they were in a sex offender's database, and the two parents complained it violated their privacy and were afraid of ID theft.

It happened at Lake Travis.

These knotheads actually complained that it violated their civil rights, including their ability to "interact with their children."

That is complete bovine fecal matter.

Nothing in that measure keeps them from even seeing their children, it merely requires that anyone who wishes to enter the campus gets their ID card scanned to see if they are a registered sex offender. If they are, and there is a legitimate need for them to see their children, then they are merely escorted while they are on campus.

Identity theft? Like the school district would NEED their driver's license for that. The school district is a quasigovernment entity and already has more personal info than an identity thief would even want. One has to wonder who collects more personal information, the federal or state government, or the schools.

Daily Horoscope for November 16

Sagittarius

Take time out to renew your spirit as today's New Moon stimulates the need to spend some time in self-healing. The darkest hour is often before the dawn, but some of the best dreams take place in the wee hours before you wake. Allow yourself to dream wild, brilliant, 'I don't think we are in Kansas any more' kinds of dreams.
