Well I got an idea. Every gay business owner in Memphis should fire every heterosexual member of their staff. Maybe then you homophobes would understand that the law is for you as well.

At no point do we force people to accept us you have your opinion and we have ours, it is you who force feed us your BS and then you scream that we are forcing you to accept us when we just try stand up for ourselves, you are a hypocrit and an idiot. How would anyone know that someone is gay, unless they told them, or tried to seduce someone of the same sex?
All they need to do is keep their mouth shut, and keep their gay lifestyle at home.
Some people are obviously gay, and people can often determine that merely by their mannerisms and appearance. Sean Hayes and Mel Gibson come to mind.

I may not care for janice fullilove but I do like what she is attempting here. I think all of the so called christians just need to back up and think about what they are doing before they run their mouth. They scream that gays are shoving their terrible way of life down their throat and I don't see how, I see them as attempting to gain equality not push anything. I see christians shoving their opinion down gays throats, which is obvious. Now you tell me how the church that enjoys a tax free status has the right to preach politics from the podium, they do not. I think churches should pay taxes just like every other corporation that meddles in politics. Either put up the money or shut up. Churches and politicians do not have the right to legislate morals and ethics because quite frankly I don't agree with what they would consider the right path. You do not tell me how I should behave or how I should view God or view anything, just like I don't have the right to tell you how to think. I can give you my opinion but I would never legislate it and force it upon you. If you do this through a religious institution you are using God's name in vain in the worst possible way in my opinion.

No one cares who you hate, it doesn't matter. This is not about forcing anyone to accept homosexuals it is about protecting peoples rights just like laws that protect African Americans from being discriminated against, you don't have to accept African Americans but you will not openly discriminate against them and deny employment or fire them because of race. The same protections should be offered to gays and lesbians, as far as the "FACTS" go, in nature their are countless scientifically documented examples off all kinds of animals engaging in homosexuality including Elephants, Brown Bears, Buffalos, Caribou, Cheetas, Dolphins, etc..... the list goes on and on. So call it a defect or whatever but it is natural, google it, go to the library, check out a science book. As long as nobody is forcing themselves on another it is no ones right to alienate a group of people for living their own life.

I am compelled to write you all and ask that you stand against any type of Gay and Lesbian Special Rights or recognition. Their sexual preferences should not be forced upon others to be recognized as acceptable behavior. If you give rights to them, then honor "adulterers, fornicators, and child molesters." The list can go on and on. It is nothing normal and acceptable about this unfortunate plaque on our society.
Please represent the MAJORITY of citizens and tell this group to go and sit down somewhere and stop trying to force this very abnormal behavior on our society. A loving married union between a man and a woman is God's holy word.
Please keep it out of Memphis and Tennessee!!!

fullapills should be in jail and we all know that and she needs to take the heat off of her big drunk butt so there is your reason.

Well let's think about this gay shitiation here. This may be a good thing. Think about it? I've been preachin how this city needs some form of population control and I think we may have found it. If we can get at least a 1/3 of the population in Memphis to be gay,*calculating, divide by three, by my calculations, we should be able to lower the number of Memphians by 30% by the year 2015. That's an alright deal right there. Not to mention that we may even run off some of the crime. No thugs want to steal cars with rainbow stickers on the windows of cars nor do they want to rob someone who likes to be fondled by strange men. Or women, sorry lesbians. Bigot or not, your lifestyle is not the way nature intended. Don't ask don't tell was a way for you to do what you wanted without persecutuion or any ridicule from your fellow soldiers. But, no you weren't happy with that. You want everyone to reconize you. No one has gotten fired from a city job for being gay. At least I haven't seen any stories on it. Unfortunately, even after this law, nothing will change. If the hiring person doesn't want to hire you, they will find a reason to not hire you. It is as simple as that. That's the workplace environment for all of us, not just you.

I hope Ms. Fullilove's children and grandchildren ALL are or become the persuasion/orientation that would benefit from an ordinance such as this just so her family can further enjoy the fruits of her labor. BTW Ms. Fullilove, your son does have a very handsome boyfriend!

There are a lot of people that say being gay is a choice and therefore should not be protected. Your religion is also a choice yet you cannot get fired for making that choice. I don't agree with a LOT of the religious rhetoric I hear but I cannot legally fire someone for their views on it. If I can't fire someone for their choice of religion, why should I be able to fire someone for who they sleep with at home? Makes no sense to me.

Like Jesus pointed out to the Pharisees when they wanted to stone Mary Magdalene, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Before Bellevue starts trotting out other's sins they should please remember that they sheltered and enabled an incestuous pedophile minister to continue to have access to children even after they were aware that he had broken the law (as has been very well documented). Get your own affairs in order before you start judging and hating others against the very Bible from which you 'preach'. I have seen several others that might benefit themselves and society by partaking of this advice. And before anyone jumps in on this, here is my disclosure: I am gay, Christian, white, male, happily partnered, successful, educated and tolerant. I hate any form of prejudice including racism, homophobia, xenophobia,'profiling', misogyny.

I would like to pose a question for someone to answer or ponder. Why do people go out of their way to jump on this anti-gay bandwagon? What is it to you? How does it harm you that gay men and women wish to enjoy the same rights and protections that heterosexual people enjoy and take for granted? Us gay folk pay the same in taxes as you... sometimes more as someone else pointed out above. Government jumped in the fray to define marriage and issue legal rights to married couples. This has absolutely nothing to do with the religious ceremony of marriage and in no way "undermines" the sanctity of any opposite sex couple's marriage. A marriage is what you make it. If it fails you have no one to blame but yourselves so quit scapegoating gays for your own inadequacies. I direct this to the homophobic bigots that stand in my way of equal rights and in the way of my gay brothers and sisters of all races, genders and ethnic backgrounds.

Now how dooe one know that elephants are homosexual? "Countless scientifically documented examples"? Name one. Are you trying to infer that male elephants, bears, cheetas and dolphins have anal sex?

You move. Memphis is my home. Where is your picture? See mine? I'm proud to show my face. Want my address? I'll give it to you. Can't have my telephone number though... don't want to be bothered in the middle of the night with lustful curious requests after your wife has gone to sleep. Much the expert on gays are you? You know an awful lot about the gay lifestyle and whether it is a choice or not. That only comes from someone who is gay. Like I am a man therefore I cannot speak definitively about the female experience. So tell us. Was it a one time thing that happened in summer camp or just something you dabbled with in college? And before you go and start ranting about me being hateful just please remember that you are the one that started it with telling us to move and take councilwoman Fullilove with us.
