Well here's Janice fullilove sticking her nose in again. We know that she is an alcoholic and a druggy now it appears she is a lesbian -- what a disgrace this woman is to this city On this issue they will surely receive support from channel five which champions all gay and lesbian causes.

"Right now it is legal in Memphis and the state of Tennessee to be fired simply cause someone is gay or lesbian or transgender. We think that's not fair. Gay, lesbian and transgenders are taxpayers like everyone else," says Cole. How would anyone know that someone is gay, unless they told them, or tried to seduce someone of the same sex? All they need to do is keep their mouth shut, and keep their gay lifestyle at home.

Way to go, Janis!! Thank you so much for taking this issue into the open for us! I 110% agree with you that there is absolutely no place for discrimination of any kind in government or any place else for that matter. Us gays, lesbians, bi and transgender folk are hard working tax paying citizens just like everyone else and anyone who would discriminate against us is misbehaving in a criminal way. Today is the day for tolerance, acceptance, love and forgiveness. Anything else at this point is just plain unacceptable! I also want to say what a wonderful way for you, Ms. Fullilove, to atone and give back to our larger community. We all know the trouble you have seen the last few years and your unselfish act of love will take you very far in gaining respect and confidence from those of us that may have unfairly judged you for your actions without seeing you as a person. You will certainly get this back ten-fold! And in my opinion it was very wise of you to seek acceptance and support from the LGBT community. Take Tammy Faye Baker for example. When Jim brought down the PTL Club with his hypocrisy and criminal activity, she did not turn her back on the gay community and we gathered behind her with support until the very end.

Vote "Yes" so Memphis can move forward to a better place for all people, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religious belief, social economic status, etc. The city is so backward in many ways due to strong influences by those self-claimed and so-called Godly people. Really Godly? You can always pick on (or discriminate) others who are different in certain ways (maybe people who go to different church or who are with another denomination from yours, etc.), even if the world has no gay people. Just look at the history of endless fights within the church due to disagreement on certain issues and then got kicked out and labelled as heresy or enemy of God. Now gay people are scapegoat for many social ill. So stand up and vote "Yes."

Jerry Bell (cute name), substance abuse can be brought under control with the 12 step program. Unfortunately for you hypocrisy has no treatment or cure except for maybe surgery.

This woman NEEDS to drink & drive, there by "self-correcting" an error of nature call Janice Fullosh*t. FREEDOM of religion; SEPARATION of church & state! If ONE group is entitled to their opinions, Then ALL are. The church is RIGHT NOT to want them there; the ONLY reason they bring it up in the first place, is that is what they DO; b*tch & moan because YOU are not a pervert. I am not religious myself; but why are there "gay bars"? Should they not start their OWN churches? What are they afraid of, that nobody would show?

Most are unknown until they declare themselves as such, unlike bigots that you can hear oinking from miles away!

Why is it so hard to get the plural form correct? It's "churches," not "church's." Hard to bring myself to read any article when the headline has mistakes.

The most respected cities in the country and the world have this policy. It would be a positive step in the right direction for the city. FedEX changed their corporate policies to be more gay friendly, recognizing to compete for potential employees nationwide it had to be more inclusive to all people. This resolution would benefit the city in the same way.

Thank goodness. The voice of reason. Janice Full-o-crap........And whatever happened to separation of church and state? You an bet if this was a conservative (white, republican) move to join church and government to enforce the current legitimate laws already on the books, Ms. Full-o-booze would be ooking and eeking from the trees.......

First off, if churches are going to continue interfering in politics, they need to have their tax-exempt status revoked. Treat them like the political organizations they have become. GBLT people pay taxes like everyone else (actually we pay MORE due to the inequality of current tax laws), and we should be able to work without fear of being fired for the simple fact that we exist. We are contributing members of society and are due the SAME rights, privileges, and responsibilities as everyone else. Don't Ask Don't Tell is no good for the military, and it certainly is no good for our civil employees (for those who think we should just be quiet and hide ourselves away). It's not about anyone being "out" at work...under the current law, one could be fired for even being suspected of being gay. P.S. to Laura Lee - I completely agree - I couldn't believe when I saw the headline...that a supposedly reputable news organization can't even discern between possessive and plural is pathetic.

....and to think I moved back to this backward area to care for my Dad from South Florida....I can't wait to leave again and get back. Shelby County has become a thugland of welfare freeloaders and illegal aliens. Maybe the Mississippi will flood this coming spring and wash away the scum and baby breeders. Memphis used to be a city of beauty...now it is a trashy, rap radio blasting, drive-by shooting city of illiterate blacks and meth addicts that have no respect for anyone. I stand by my words. All people are created equal and should be treated as such...respect should be given to those who earn it, regardless of their personal beliefs. Grow up Memphis....Atlanta left you in the dust years ago.

Members of the gay and lesbian community do have their own churches. Churches who welcome any and all to God's table and grace. Churches such as Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Catholic, United Church in Christ, etc.

I am a fit 212, & I DOUBT you are NOT gay OR a grandfather; more than likely a punk kid at a keyboard, a victim of the liberal education system. I OWN my home, not the bank & don't care for much TV, unlike yourself. I refered to "fortuneS" - plural; as in the investment sector. I have spoken MY mind; your double standards need work.
