These are elevated concentration findings: Presented at the July 8, 2009 Village meeting on the Alternative Fuels Site (also known as Old Co-op site) located on Rose Avenue in Barryton, Michigan.
Soil: Naphthalene, Xylenes, Benzo Pyrene, Phenathreene, Mercury, Zinc
Ground: Trimethybenzene, Arsenic, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Mercury, Selenium, Zinc
This information was give to the Barryton Village Council by:Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc., Grand Rapids,MI

The property is directly across M-66 from the Chippewa Hills Elementary School in Barryton, and also on the banks of the Chippewa River, ultimately flowing into Lake Huron. In addition, the soil removed was buried or piled high near our sewer collection ponds, also on the bank of the Chippewa River further downstream. It was removed by someone who is not licensed to do so. A copy of the entire report was omitted from the Council minutes when they were posted, so no one in town has been able to see what these elevated finding are. Since the report was part of the office business of the village, not including the information is not acceptable.

Perhaps more pressure needs to be applied to Village Council members..since the report was accepted at the July 8, 2009 meeting it MUST be a part of the minutes and must be included. Evidently, some on the Council believe they are above the law.

No one knows how bad it really is...the Village Council won't tell anyone. They want to put an RV park on top of the mess. Do you suppose they will tell the campers? I wonder who will pay those medical bills when they start coming in? Seems like every other house in that town is for sale. There must be something wrong there.
