Can anyone give me ideas as to who to contact regarding possible warranty on my Stonite countertop. I am having issues with the built-in sink.
You are probably out of luck on the sink. Warranties are usually 2-10 and with the builder gone, the 10 is usually structural and at closing you were given a book with contact info. Pull the sink completely out and clean the top edge. Go to Home Depot and get an epoxy mix in the two tube applicator, run a bead of epoxy around the top of the sink, and brace the sink with wedges screwed into the cabinet underneath after apply the epoxy. Epoxy is nasty smelling stuff, but let it cure for 24-48 hours before hooking back up the sink mechanicals.Good luck.

To compensate for the lack of U.S. drywall and wallboard when constructing new homes during Florida's housing boom a few years ago, contractors resorted to importing Chinese drywall.
This drywall has been linked to an odor of rotten eggs and to health disorders like irritated eyes, breathing difficulty, bloody noses and headaches. This defect has affected hundreds of homeowners in Florida, primarily in homes built in the last five years. If you think your home is built of defective Chinese drywall, please visit the following site: http://www.defective-chinese-drywall-lawsuit.... |

Well with doing some research I by chance found the company that installed my countertop and sink. The defect in the sink was covered. they claimed it was the seal coat that was on it. All they did was sand it off. Should this happen again then we will have the sink cut out and install a standard sink. This will probably cost me between $2-300 not incl the new sink. But the seam that is starting to show where the 2 counters meet is not covered by warrantee and that will cost me $250 min to fix. Next time we will just build out own countertops. Did it before and they were beautiful. Very disappointed with purchasing higher end items and they are showing to being overpriced cheap items...this incl. the higher end appliances I put into the house.

How many foreclosures in Elburn or Prairie Green? I miss Ruth.
In prairie green I know of 2 and they are near me one was vacant for over a year and just recently sold. I think the other one sold also but have not seen the moving truck. But any forclosure is 1 too many.

In Eagle Creek there are 12 foreclosures. The foreclosures that have sold were at a very large discount - 25 to 40%. My guess is that there will be further foreclosures due to the "foreclosure crisis" that is supposedly only one-third complete. This will mean that one-third of the homes will go into foreclosure if this is correct. I am not claiming to be an expert.
One interesting thing to note, is since these foreclosed homes were sold at such a high discount, the value of the other homes have probably dropped significantly. Unfortunately, there appeared to be mortgage brokers in the sales office who were offering financing such as zero down and balloon mortgages (you don't even need good credit). My guess is that many of the homeownwers may some of these mortgages. The sad thing is that if there are many homeowners with these mortgages who will probably need to refinance and will not be able to get a mortgage with bad credit or have enough money to make up for the loss of value of their homes - since it is difficult to get a mortgage without 20% down. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future!!!! |

CP Morgan, the large builder in Indy and the Carolina's filed for bankruptcy last week. This large production builder is the company that Kennedy Homes desired to become. Using the same business consultants and business philosophy, and both failed miserably. Irresponsible business practices which have led our nation into tough economic times. Foreclosures that will haunt our nation for years based on the greed of builders and lenders.
Gravedigger, you are right. The business model Kennedy Homes was using can only be successful if the builder can sell many homes in a given period of time. By having financing available to people who could not afford the homes, they were able keep the mass production of homes going and probably were able to do it at a profit.
It looks like in order to develop a subdivision, they had to prepare the lots before the homes were purchased. They were not able to pay off interest on the loans to do this type of work when potential buyers could not get financing. My guess is when vacant homes and foreclosures started (along with 2 homes that caught on fire), no one was willing to purchase a home here. I doubt we will never see this type of builder for many years to come--maybe never. |

Their new locations were too far out. Hebron, Coal City, Waterman, and in the bad school district of Rockford. Gas prices went up, and these towns were too far to commute to jobs. Hell, if gas was free, the locations were too far out from real employment or civilization. Plus they built a huge community in Wisconsin in which they sold no homes for a year. No clue on what people from Wisconsin want no clue on where the customers were even going to come from. They would have better luck if they had thrown a dart at a map. Bad business judgement, the management thought that they had all the answers and they were not bright. They hired consultants and never listened to anyone. They needed to check their egos at the door. Check out builder implosion.com Soon only the quality builders will survive. No more crap boxes or brand new fixer uppers. I need a drink.

I'm back I'm a raging idiot I went to work fo rthe concret company who worked for Kennedy. I'm totaly full of myself I talk a good game but sufer from anxiety attacks because I can't deliver. But they loved me at Kennedy because I told them what they wanted to hear. Hi Boris Love you babe!
Anyone want me to build them a house? |
Lets face it folks the company was full of itself. Tried to reinvent home building on a weekly basis. Houses are not like cars on an assembly line. Throw the schedules out or use them as a guide but don't let a scheduled dicatate quality in a negative way. RUSH RUSH RUSH. FAIL FAIL FAIL. Here's a slogan BIG HOMES built shity.

Does anyone know the name of the vendor the builder used for the interior doors? All I know is the color I chose (Mendocino Golden), but no clue on the vendor. I need another interior door and am having a hard time finding one. Thanks for your help!

Wonder how people like that sleep at night. Maybe I can be a partner I kiss ass why not? Oh my wife can schedule for them also.
