Paul Cameron's World
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center described Paul Cameron’s theories on homosexuality this way: “Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany in that these disparaging descriptions of homosexuals are reminiscent of themes found in the ugly history of anti-Semitism…”. But as we shall see, Cameron does much more than just echo Nazi Germany in his theories on homosexuality. And the SPLC didn’s have to compare his theories to anti-Semitism to hear those echos. It turns out that Cameron himself is much more direct, employing a bit of holocaust revisionism to advance his cause. And the surprising thing is, this evidence has been right there all along on his web site, largely unnoticed for eight years.
But before we examine his retelling of the gay experience in Nazi Germany, let's take a few moments to explore a little bit about what goes on in Cameron’s world. And let’s begin with a recent e-mail exchange between Paul Cameron and Dr. Warren Throckmorton, associate professor of Psychology at Grove City College in northwestern Pennsylvania.

I would venture to say that Paul Cameron is a borderline Megalomaiac. At some point he must have crossed a point of no return where he now believes that what he writes is truth, regardless of any science to the contrary. I can imagine that if he had political aspirations, he would undoubtedly be a dictator. The other side to this is that he has built his following on anti-gay rhetoric and thus has to either continue this and occasionally up the ante to keep any source of funding for his "research" and work. If you distort the truth enough, you begin to believe it to be true. I wonder if this is where he has gone too.... his own utopia in his mind.

Having had the dubious and rather sickly humorous pleasure of meeting the man some 25 years ago, I can assure you he crossed that border a long time ago, became a citizen and currently views himself in charge of the whole shebang... He was beyond redemption even then, explaining to his audiences at that time that his theory regarding GRID (even though the name had already been changed by that point) was that it was the the result of the common homosexual practice of declawed, defanged gerbilling and that it would spread to "normal" people through mosquitos. He was advocating the round up and quarrantining of the gay population and branding us in case we escaped and it is really doubtful that he's mellowed over the years.
