TomMyers4 Congress
|
Tom Myers, a life-long Democrat, is running for Congress because our country is headed in the wrong direction and we need new leadership to change its course. With new leadership, we can return to a time when American families believed in their government and citizens joined the fight to make our communities and our country a better place. But right now, America is far from those days of belief and action. Somewhere along the line, public service has turned into self-service. Today we are embroiled in President Bush’s failed Iraq War. Year after year, we have lost good paying jobs due to unfair trade deals, and many of our neighbors in Western Pennsylvania are financially strapped. And everyday, more and more Americans find themselves without adequate health care coverage…if they have any coverage at all. Tom is eager to address these challenges because they affect all of us. And Tom has the values, principles and experience to move our country in the right direction – Forward. Tom Myers will work hard to bring out troops home from Iraq. And he is committed to refocusing our priorities and resources on reducing our federal deficit, making health care accessible to everyone and ending unfair trade deals that have stripped our communities and hardworking families of good-paying jobs. Tom will fight for a healthy legacy for our children and our grandchildren, so that we don’t continue down a path that is mortgaging their futures. www.Tommyersforcongress.com

These seem like mutually exclusive goals.

Care to explain? Just take the money being wasted in Iraq and you would have more than enough to to pay down the debt and have health care.

You're right! Those Iraqis don't have a right to expect not to live in constant fear for their lives. Furthermore, they're inferior. And 10 million of them are not worth one American. And I'm sure that if we immediately withdraw all troops that there won't be a repeat of what we saw in Cambodia or Vietnam. And of course, health care is guaranteed in the Constitution. ;-)

Why should we subsidize Iraq to rebuild a country when they have oil profits that could more than cover the cost of these repairs? Where in the constitution does it say we have to let Iraqis live without fear? Why only Iraq, what about all the other nations where their citizens are scared? What about all the turmoil in the African nations? Are they worth less to you because of their color?

alverez wrote: <quoted text> Where is invading a sovereign nation in our constitution?
It isn't. So? So our actions in WWI and WWII were inexcusable?
Why should we subsidize Iraq to rebuild a country when they have oil profits that could more than cover the cost of these repairs?
So help from us is O.K. More help from the U.N is better. Most help from Iraq itself is desired.
Where in the constitution does it say we have to let Iraqis live without fear?
I believe that the U.S. Constitution applies to the U.S. and its citizens. I could be wrong.
Why only Iraq, what about all the other nations where their citizens are scared?
U.N. countries could step up on this. But they won't. They want the U.S. to be the world's boogeyman.
What about all the turmoil in the African nations?
U.N., again.
Are they worth less to you because of their color? No.(Betcha don't know my "color"!)
