Obama’s Muslim Heritage by Haroon Siddiqui JAKARTA–Barack Hussein Obama Jr. spent part of his youth here in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation. The entrance foyer to his elementary school has a photograph, 2 metres by 1.3 metres, of the hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Ten steps into the crowded rectangular courtyard and you can see his old homeroom, adjacent to the stairway leading to the second floor mosque, where he studied Islam. He had a different name then, Barry Soetoro, after his stepfather. His mother, the Kansas-born Ann Dunham, first married a Kenyan, Barack Hussein Obama. Her second husband was the Indonesian Lolo Soetoro, with whom she moved here in 1967. Obama was enrolled in a Catholic primary school, and then for his Grades 3 and 4 in what is now called the Model Primary School, a much-sought after public school in an elite leafy neighbourhood. Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim. In his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, he mentions his Qur’an studies here. A classmate of his in Jakarta has said that Obama used to wear a sarong and accompany his father to the neighbourhood mosque, but that his mother used to go to church. |

280 bills signed into law in 2 years? They're only in session part of the year, so that's roughly a bill every 2 days. You'd think Illinois and Chicago wouldn't be having gang wars and such with such an abundance of laws in effect.

PLEASE help put an end to BUBBA'S CRUSADE to get back in the Whitehouse!
The Clinton's with all their "republican scare tactics" and negative campaigning have lost the respect of even some of their closest allies and dearest friends. Hill's promises of universal healthcare will never get through the house and senate, none of the republicans will help to pass ANY of Hill's plans. It's just another pandering lie for all of you less intelligent people to buy into, so you'll vote for her & Bill! Her "gas tax holiday" (that was actually McCain's idea first), wouldn't even be voted on in the house & senate, and if it was; it would fail! If they really cared and wanted this; they needed to introduce it months ago, and even then; it would've failed! Hillary follows McCain's lead, too often! Those "reagan democrats" that voted for her in PA, won't vote for Billary over McCain in the fall! ..........Bill really hopes all of this works out, so he can hire interns for Hill, conduct 'whale tail' thong inspections, and he might even get to play secretary with a cigar again! ..........Who knows? He wants this more than she does; why do you think he has 9 campaign stops in NC today? Help end the madness! Vote Obama! |
