Dammnn, can't even burn your own house down to collect the insurance on it. Guess I won't be able to collect on my soon to be burnt up vehicle. Oh, I forgot, I don't have that type insurance on it.

"• Fredricka Shontrese Williams, of Atkinson Street, Asheville, charged with school attendance law violation and failure to appear on charges of driving while license revoked and failure to stop at a stop sign or flashing light. According to warrants, Williams’ 10-year-old child, a student at Hall Fletcher Elementary School, has missed 19 days of school, including 14 unexcused absences, the arrest warrant shows. Williams’ bond was set at $1,000."

Just curious. Does somebody make a determination that a child is NOT being homeschooled before the parent gets in legal trouble for absences?

If someone wants to home school their child, after the child is enrolled in public school, there is a process in which the child is officially withdrawn with written notice to home school given to the public school. If the child is officially withdrawn, there would be no need to follow-up on absences. We can't just stop sending our children to public schools then later say we are home schooling.

At least we still have that option. Looks like some states are trying to remove homeschooling as an option.

Reports: Police have possible break in slaying of UNC student

Chapel HILL, N.C.- Police investigating the slaying of the University of North Carolina's student body president may have a new break in the case.

Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall told WRAL-TV on Wednesday that police are talking to a person of interest in the death of Eve Carson. He declined to comment further.

WTVD-TV broadcast a video Wednesday of a man arrested during a raid in Durham who the station said was later turned over to Chapel Hill police.

Numerous calls to police in Chapel Hill and Durham, and Woodall's office in Hillsboro, were not immediately returned.
