I am glad they voted to mandate that the Jrs. who live in that district have to go there as well as the Fresh and Sophs. I think it would be a real waste of tax payer money to open a new school and not put it to use. Nelson Co has been overcrowded for a long time.

I'm already hearing that Tomas Nelson will not be offering the same class's as Nelson co.I hope this is not true because If they are not there when it opens we will not ever get them.People have said they are going to bus the kids over to get certain class's.Anybody know anything.

The SBDM decides on what classes will be offered. I personally feel so bad for the Juniors who were originally told they would not be affected by this. To have to change schools midstream is completely unfair. I think they reversed their decision without obtaining all the information they needed. If they would have surveyed ALL of the Juniors and let the ones who want to go to TNHS regardless where they are districted, they may have gotten the numbers Orr wants to see and everyone wins. Orr said that there was this "time crunch" for planning. 2 weeks to do the survey?? give me a break! 2 weeks is nothing. Adam Wheatley ticks me off because he doesn't have kids who would be affected by this, so no dog in this fight so what does he care. The kids who play sports, they say they will offer Varsity but they have yet to say which sports. Based on the current set up, I don't think they will have enough players for some. IF they have varsity football I feel bad for those top athletes who will be playing in a division 3A with no challenge and no hope for recruitment. This was a bad decision all the way around in my opinion. Very sad.

While I agree with you on some of your comments, I have to say that when these juniors grow up into adults, this whole experience will just be a memory. Just a simple stepping stone in their past. They will actually get to be the FIRST Graduating class from that school. I think that is pretty darn special myself. Try to look at the glass as being half full and please try to make this transition as smooth as possible for all the kids. The more negativity they hear about it the worse the adjustment period will be. I'm not trying to pick on you personally but I just wanted to state my opinion as well. Sometimes change isn't all that bad and our kids depend on us to make sure these changes happen as smoothly an as painlessly as possible.

As I respect your opinion, the memory SOME of these kids will have is that they got rooked in their plans to play sports on a higher level. Trust me, the kids don't care one bit about being the first graduating class. To me, the bottom line is this could have all been avoided, but you are right though, it is what it is. I am encouraging those families with these top athletes to find a club team somewhere because that will be there only chance at this point of getting looked at for college.

Attending Thomas Nelson will not hurt these athletes chances of playing at the next level. If you look at the athletes Nelson Co. has sent to the next level it is unimpressive. A school the size of NC should have several D1 athletes graduating each year. No recruiters are killing themselves to come to the 19th district to see the athletes. A player at Thomas Nelson, Washington Co., or Bethlehem will have as much exposure as Nelson Co.

Do you think Charlie Strong or John Calipari is watching and scouting big al'mighty Nelson County with our strong tradition of D-1 athletes? Give me a break, your child will Never play sports at a D-1 college!!! You parents are crazy!! I referee football, and basketball in this county and have for 10 years, and I have yet to see 1, D-1 player yet! I have probably seen every kid in the county, bardstown, and Beth. school district play, and not a single 1 from NC or Beth, have a chance! Bardstown mite have a couple but thats a stretch there too!
