Some of the retirees or soon to be, would like to see if we lost anymore than we have already lost to Gustav. I have half my roof gone for Gustav, and was only able to get some tarp to protect the contents. Now I am not allowed in to try to protect what is left. Whatever happened to the civil right to protect your property? Now we recieve news that looting is being done by law offcials? So much for official protection of my property! Then you hear a resident give an interview on T.V. saying she's glad officials didn't allow non-residents(camp owners?) to return to get in their way! Camp owners pay higher property taxes than residents and we patronize the bussinesses. All my recreational life has been in Grand Isle and has been my dream to reside there when I retire. I earned my living on the water and wished to die by the water, but now I feel unwanted there. I plan to rebuild(if I ever get to see what needs to be rebuilt) then sell in order to retire to Miss.! I don't want to get in anyones way! I rebuit after Katrina and had an opportunity to sell at a profit, now it's sad to say, I'm sorry I didn't. The really sad thing is, I'm not the only one who feels this way.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Grand Isle!! I have only been there once, but that was all it took to fall in love with the island, my brother married a hurricane Katrina evacuee and the just recently moved to the island. I have family and extended family in Grand Isle, even those I do not know I consider family, I didn't meet a stranger at all. I can't wait to get back to the isle, although now it will be awhile. Resident or Non-resident, it shouldn't matter, if you have property there and you consider the island as home then you should be able to check on your property as well as the resident owners. I know they have probably lost more than non-residents but the island will only survive with the team work of everyone to rebuild. It really breaks my heart to see individuals trying to interfere with the recovery and rebuilding of the island, I myself wish I could be there to help everyone, however, I am not a resident or non-resident and feel that I WOULD be in the way as some people would put it. Best wishes to all on Grand Isle and your will recover as you did from Katrina. I look forward to returning to the island next year!!

Hey Billy,
don't give up yet... You are not alone! Go to www.c21gir.com and you can read the comments of a lot of us non resident property owners. I believe we can fix this and make it better. We want you there!

Thanks Cindy & Linda. It will take all to overcome as all times before. Just another price to have paradise. I'll be going to the island Saturday the 20th. Anything I can do for you while I'm there?

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Scorpio

If you've been surrounded by people during the past few days you welcome the chance to have some time to yourself today. It's a wonderful excuse to do something really indulgent in private, such as scoff a whole box of chocolates while watching a favourite film on TV. But make sure you destroy all the evidence before everyone else comes home!
