I heard the owner made comments about not needing
the locals. I think he deserves to be forgiven.
He's been there a long time. He's a jerk but the
hamburgers are good.

I say give him a break.

Mr. Rob from Odessa, Are you talking about the owner of the Bear Den - with the big pink monstrosity of a house that looks like it belongs in OJ? I wish I could flip burgers for a living and build a huge house, a motel, buy a hamburg joint in pecos, send my kid to a fancy college, have new vehicles, ATV's, go on cruises, go to Vegas regularly, buy new furniture, wear expensive jewelry, etc. Give me a break. If he doesn't need them then he needs to tell them when they come in to eat - "hey, I don't need your business." Same thing with their burger joint in Pecos. You see what they think of the people living in Balmorhea now. They need to move if they don't like the locals.

Yes the comments are true and just to add to the list of things, they just bought Pecos a/c and heating. I personally dont go and waste my money on this place because they always ask there staff what race and if they are from out-of-town. And the most important thing is the quality of the food is awful.

For all yall ignorant people out there. If yall would so much as stop hating and see this man (yes, the owner of the Bear Den, the huge house and all the extravagant things he owns) and his family for who he is, yall would see that they are wonderful and caring people. Yes he can afford all these things, and so can you. All it requires is this formula:
A LITTLE DETERMINATION + ALLOT OF HARD WORK = SUCCESS AND WEALTH
So stop your whinning and work, sweat and sacrifice and you too can accoplish as Mr. Madrid has. Then maybe you would not be so bitter towards this man and his family! MORE POWER TO THE MADRIDS AND ALL THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Indian Scout you couldn't be any more wrong! Honestly I am niether family nor a Madrid! I am only a longtime Balmorhea visitor and those people have always been warm and kind to us. Maybe you should all just keep an open mind rather than ASSUMING on what yall have heard about them. You know what they say when you assume. Just an FYI

You know you are right about assuming but 1 thing is for sure I am a native of Balmorhea and I have witnessed 1st hand their crap. Hey if you like recycled food , have at it.
