American Payroll Service owner sentenced for embezzlement

3 years doesn't seem too long for the damage she has done to so many individuals and businesses.
Very unfortuante for her kids but WHAT was she thinking????

I am one of Angela Smiley's victims. Although my loss was not that of some of her other victims, I still lost in excess of 20K. I spent over a year dealing with the IRS to straighten out the situation and was forced to pay penalties and interest. I have very little pity for her children. Angela Smiley and her husband Michael Smiley live about a mile from me. The list of luxury cars, country club membership, private schools is lengthy. They socialize with a lot of people I know. Apperantly, there is no remorse. Michael Smiley blames the victims for not "staying on top of the situation". It is hard to do that when you can never contact or reach Angela Smiley. One of her victims lost their house, many had to sell their businesses to pay the taxes (a second time) and interest and penalties. Trust me, their kids have not experienced any of this, but they should.

Anglea Smiley and her dumb husband need to get a clue. Her husbands blames the business owners?? Give me a break, he obviously doesn't know what happened then. She contacted the IRS on our behalf and lied to them about the money and its status. We received fake 941 forms with payment amounts attached. We never received a warning signal because she was putting out the smoke with the IRS before the fire. Michael should have been sentenced as well. He was receiving a check, he was married to her, which makes him involved.

There must have been a deal made for her to take the fall and Mike to stay out of jail to take care of the kids. How could he possibly have not know? Where did he think all the money came from? I'm not sure he worked at all...played a lot a golf...

Angela Smiley is a despicable human being and shows absolutely no shame. Her arrogance is truly appalling and she and that no good husband of hers deserve each other. They lived way beyond their means which shows how extremely self-centered they are. Mike Smiley should be permantely banned from Forest Hills. Does he really think anyone would want to play golf with a cheater? He's as guilty as she is and he had to known about her conniving ways to get money since she's been sued so many times over a very long period. They are nothing but lying, scheming, low lives that(she)deserves a much longer sentence. How do you think the Judge would react if he knew she planned a party the day of her sentencing and bragged she was paying for it? Oh yeah, I forgot, she's taking the fall for someone from her company, isn't she special.

I dated Angela before Mike...whew, I dodged a bullet! As most people know...she was originally Angela Castelli (of Castelli Tuxedo) and she coined the phrase "show me the money" long before Jerry McGuire. This does not come as any surprise to me. She should enjoy the prison cuisine and fashion sense. I just feel sorry for the kids...

I think that lying woman lied again to the judge about assets. Hid money, jewelry and a house in Florida. Now she'll hopefully get 20 years. Still not enough

That Lying B*%$#$ lied to the judge about her assets. Jewlery, cash, house in Florida and her husband's money source. 50 years is not enough for her. She flaunts herself all over town with exspensive drinks and meals at expensive restaurants

Angela and Mike have done so much damage and hurt so many of my friends that they deserve to be homeless and destitute. Jail is not enough, if we were in the middle east they would cut her hands off! He has the nerve to be seen around town like nothing has happened. Cmon Mike be a man and do something to make up for all the damage you have done.

put the kids with safe relatives and get them both off the street. they are both crooks and i hope they get what they both deserve. A long time in jail

how did they think they were going to get away with this ? Hopefully soon they have to sell their luxury cars & their luxury houses - one person wrote about her party - i heard about that also - i dont even see how she has friends left to host a party - for the person who says the kids should suffer also, i disagree with that - they had nothing to do with this whole thing & sure they have had benefits such as a membership to a country club & a nice house & going to private schools, but they hopefully no longer will have all those extras & will live normal honest lives (the kids)- mike knew everything he is just a lying piece of s***- no good person - they should take his mercedes away & id like to see them take angelas 4 carat ring off her finger also

Everything is leased. There is nothing to take. I'm sure the 4 carat ring is a CZ.

Does anyone know what is going on with the Appeal?

Last I heard re: sentencing is set for Friday apr 6th to be extended because she hid assets from Judge. the IRS and potential bankrutpcy can't be far behind.
MO is a victim restitution state: her assets must be used to pay back victims ( I hope)

I have heard about all the bad things this issue has caused everyone involved but it had no effect on me or my life. I was out with a friend last week who started his own business 5 years ago. I intoduced him to Mike. I had no clue that shortly after my introduction he started doing his payrole with Angela. He mention to me that he was taken for 10,000. I believe now that what they have done has caused more families hardships then anyone can imagine. they deserve what they will get on Friday.

Does anyone know if there was a sentencing today?
