Frederick police said an officer shot and killed a 52-year-old man who they say charged at him with a claw hammer.

You are probably thinking of a large heavy sledge hammer. Claw hammers (the most common modern hammer) are not heavy to swing. |

Wow... the comments are here are interesting. I guess if the officer REALLY felt like he couldn't take this guy out with his stick, he had no choice. It does sound like suicide by cop to me too. Just seems like sometimes, just ONCE in a while, the police could shoot to injur and not kill. If this guy only had a hammer... what about shooting in the arm, leg or something... just a thought.

I doubt he that the officer wanted to shoot him. I'm sure he had no other choice. I'm also sure that if someone is coming at you with a hammer, you don't have the luxury of aiming for a limb that might be flailing/swinging.

Did you also know that Latinos are the ones out in parking lots and standing on street corners, looking for jobs? When you see a thug on the street corner, it's usually there to either buy or sell drugs or rob someone - sometimes even a carjacking! So if you think we should deport them for committing a crime, shouldn't we do that to the thugs? I mean, in a matter of a couple of months, the crime will be way down, right? |

Hey Tiko, Im all for deporting the thugs too, except US law is a bit sketchy on where exactly to deport a thug, except to prision, which i guess is as close as they have culturally to a home. Those loitering latrinos are also drunk in public, urinating in public, violating US and State labor law, and make lewd remarks and attack and rape and expost themselves to little kids. Id love to see both groups dealt with in the harshest manner! |

With the cops doing a good job in cleaning up the outsiders from the local regions, I am willing to soon put more of my tax dollars toward the Fraternal Order Of Police for their outstanding progress. I have to say that they deserve far more than we do. They put their lives on the line for us so we can be safe. My dad years ago was a cop, sherriff, states attorney and judge before getting into architecture and caligraphy. He owned several bussinesses in architecture. One of my grandsons want to start a career in law enforcement when he graduates from high school. |
