How would that get rid of corruption? What is the connection between Bejarano and whatever corruption exists?

And to the starter of this thread: Doesn't everybody who is involved community wise in Baldwin Park know each other? I mean, is it really "cahoots" or is the community just one that everyone sort of knows everyone (or at least two degrees of separation)?

In all seriousness, what is the business owners motive for this? Is this business owner really concerned about the quality of life the residents are living? This redevelopment project is change this city is craving, it's change this city needs to survive. B.P. is stuck in the western ERA and we only want rejuvination. I am sick of the people who want to keep B.P. as it is....people talk about the gangs, the drugs the shootings but when we want change, people go crazy. I live in B.P. and I want to be able to be proud of where I live.....right now, I just live there. I do not shop there and rarely eat in the city because there's not too much the city offers.

The homes they want to tear down 98% look like the house from Sanford and Son, tear them down, rebuild!

This city doesn't care about the quality of life of residents. All they care about is the mighty dollar bill. Just look around the neighborhoods, how many pigeon homes they keep allowing to be built into one lot. These pigeon homes and their surrounding areas are attracting the criminal refugees from other cities. Just look at BP's crime rate for this year alone. Cities, like El Monte, W. Covina & Covina, property value is higher than our's because no one wants to live in a city with high crime rates. BP needs to focus on attract the middle and upper class. They need to start in our neighborhoods first by building nice large homes.

Why don't more people in BP speak English? Baldwin Park is little mexico. Hard work, ambition, education, and laws are what make america strong. If you choose America, then learn the culture and the language. Poverty can only be cured if these people get an education! Start by speaking English!

Don't be surprised if the DA announces at Corona's arraignment that a plea bargain has been reached, and that no drug-related charges will be filed since he has agreed to enter a rehab program.

Also, let it be known that Corona was a political novice when Mayor Manuel Lozano recruited him to run for the Baldwin Park Unified School District, which strengthened Lozano's political alliance with former Baldwin Park Mayor and current Board of Education President Jack White.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune has reported mostly superficial information that many people could obtain on their own, including the information from the highly-redacted police report, which the public can view by clicking on the following web link: http://la.indymedia.org/uploads/2008/05/sergi...

For example, the Tribune hasn't reported that the cell phone police confiscated from Corona at the time of his arrest apparently was the cell phone issued to him by the district because he is a member of the Board of Education.

Among the redacted statements that the Tribune did not report that police reportedly attributed to Corona is that he reportedly said, "Tell Manny (Lozano) I'm not gay."

There should be no issue about either Mayor Lozano or Board Member Corona being gay. Readers should take issue, however, with the Tribune being notified about Corona's "gay" comment but apparently deciding not to reasonably pursue confirming the information.

The City Council's recent letter to Board President Jack White--asking the Board of Education to ask Corona to resign--represents a breakdown in the political alliance between Jack White and Mayor Lozano, who seems intent on distancing himself from the role both he and White played in lifting Corona to political office.

As the story of Corona's alleged crime continues, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune should report about the poor judgment Mayor Manuel Lozano and Board of Education President Jack White exercised in the first place. They played a part in attempting to manipulate city politics for personal gain and instead created the foundation for this embarrassing scandal for the people of Baldwin Park.

After all, the people of Baldwin Park should be concerned about the fact that schools in Baldwin Park, with an estimated annual budget of about $150 million last year, are the biggest business in the city.

Reporters and editors of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune often use these blogs to pat themselves on their backs for superficially inquiring, researching, or investigating the interests of the people of Baldwin Park.

Tribune reporters and editors who cover Baldwin Park, however, seldom if ever go beyond reporting the obvious.

This is mostly because they lack the same level of news skills that are typically found among journalists who work at, for example, the Los Angeles Times, which is owned by the same company.

The inequity in news skills may explain why the Tribune failed again to include a timely update this morning on the crime story about Baldwin Park Board of Education member Sergio Corona.

The newspaper knew in advance that the board was scheduled to meet last night and that there was interest about whether Corona would attend.

Yet, the Tribune failed to meet its obligation to the people of Baldwin Park by updating the story in a timely manner.

Most Tribune readers, wherever they live in the San Gabriel Valley, probably don't know that, ironically, the newspaper's editorial offices are located only 12 seconds from Baldwin Park, or just a few feet away. The Tribune is literally across the street from Baldwin Park.

Consequently, reporters and editors of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune who cover what is newsworthy to many people of Baldwin Park have no excuses for failing again to meet their obligation to the people of Baldwin Park by updating the Sergio Corona story in a timely manner.

Actually, it is unprofessional for journalists to engage in self-serving behavior such as congratulating themselves to readers. In fact, such behavior reflects an attitude of entitlement and self-righteousness.

Instead, the reporters and editors of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune should raise their collective level of news skills by simply doing their jobs of keeping the people of Baldwin Park informed in a timely manner. They should do their jobs better than they do now.

I worked for BP years back. It wasn't great then, but now it's TERRIBLE! I went back to work for them briefly after I retired. Wow! What a mess! I even had a gangbanger confront my work partner & I on duty in a city vehicle and DEMANDED to know what we were doing in HIS neighborhood. Who were we looking for, etc? That town is WAY outta control. That never happened back when I worked for BP full time years ago.

Bejarano is just a wart on the city's ass it's the gay mayor and his bulldog marlen garcia who are at the heart of this corruption and need to go so make sure you vote next election in 09 to get rid of these two parasites. You have anthony confused with his corrupt daddy anthony hasn't been in office long enough to cause that much corruption just has a big nose and mouth.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Gemini

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
