If people were at home, then there should be descriptions available, right? Why not any descriptions? At least the 9 year old was smart enough to let the person go without confronting them, or this story could have had a very different ending.

Newsday will not print the description of the suspects if they aren't white because they are afraid of upsetting the minorities. Way to go Newsday! Protect the criminals!

Did NCPD say anything about arming yourself? If they did, would Newsday have printed it? If they didn't, why not?

At first the article says "one in Great Neck and one in Baldwin" then later in this same article it gives two Great Neck addresses:
"The Great Neck home invasion on Willow Lane"
and
"In the Maple Street burglary in Great Neck."

I also moved from the Bronx 35 years ago. Now I'm very happy living on LI. All you need to do is invest in a Shotgun they are Legal and the best for home defense. All you need to do is aim in the vicinity and you will hit your target.

My thoughts exactly. Let them come and it will be one less criminal and the state (i.e. taxpayers) would not have to pay to house them for however many years.

Why were these particular homes invaded? The odds of your house being randomly selected for such an "invasion" are astronomical. The houses that get picked are chosen because the owners are known to have a lot of cash or other valuables around, usually involving a cash business, either legal or illegal. Home invasions are different from burglaries, which usually occur then nobody is at home. Keep your doors and windows locked, and get a dog!

New York State needs to enact Right To Carry laws like Florida; so honest citizens can protect themselves. Nassau County Police Department rubber stamps our handgun licenses with “To and From the Range Only” on our State issued Carry Permits. Where are the police when crimes are being committed? Obliviously they cannot protect us.

the only way to slow these inavasions down is to make it easier to get a hand gun for families that want them & t o get the traiining to handle a firearm. at least you would stand a chance agaisnt such invaders. alarms are a joke cut the phone wire & u have nothing & they know that but what the perps dont know if your armed or not.

Nassau doesn't want good citizens to have handguns. Legal gun owners rarely commit crimes with firearms. I think the FBI statistics will back that up. A nice shotgun will do the trick though.

Nassau is one of (if not THE) hardest county in the nation in which to get a handgun permit. And even then, yes, it's for your premise or the range, only. And that's after 6 months of presidential-candidate-level scrutiny. I'm tired of being made fun of by my ex-Brooklyn now Oregon uncle who carries regularly. I hate Nassau...

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Taurus

If a friend has been bugging you recently, you are likely to have a few sharp words with them today. However, least said soonest mended, so don't labour the point or turn them against you. Besides, you have better things to do with your time now, such as taking part in a big gathering of likeminded people or having a long chat with one special person.
