Cleveland ghettodwellers don't report missing women, but Long Island residents report metal on the front lawn. Where would you rather live????

Lucky it only landed in the yard. Could have gone through a roof.

My daughter dates a fellow who's family used to live in Long Island. I think the residents were upset that real estate taxes weren't accessed with the piece of aircraft laying on the ground for the period of time.. Anyway, as a private pilot myself, it makes you wonder if cost cutting by the airlines are allowing the ground maintenance crews rushing through their maintenance updates on the planes. Good news is, it wasn't the engine pylon. I hate when those engines fall off....

These days, most airlines sub contract their maintenance. You get what you deserve when the person doesn't have a personal interest in whether your plane crashes or not.

I stopped flying when I learned commercial aircraft were being maintained to military standards to contain costs.

When was the last time you flew on a passenger airplane that had an ejection seat and a parachute?

I can honestly say, in 1984, I flew the simulator of an F-15 at Goodyear Aerospace. At the time, they were training Saudi pilots on the aeronautics and various systems that Goodyear designed. The simulator actually shook when going above mach (speed of sound) and the rate of fuel consumption was 1,000lbs per minute with afterburner. I'm 6'2" and could barely fit in the cock-pit as the instruments are virtually wrapped all around you. This was prior to GPS navigation and location was based on Longitude/Latitude coordinates. I only fly the little stuff now... Many of today's commercial pilots are former military. The cost of obtaining a multi-engine rating would be equivalent to buying a small home. Very expensive...

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Gemini

It's easy to become distracted and confused because your mind is wandering about in all sorts of different directions. You're also in a highly impressionable state so will believe almost anything you're told now, whether it's true or a total flight of fancy. Be wary of muddling others by only telling them half the story or letting your imagination fill in any gaps.
