child abuse

saw something the other when I was at someones house. There was a baby like 18 months old mabye 19 months, and the father got mad because the child said no to him he ran after the boy and spanked him on the butt pretty hard and then grabbed him up put him on the bed and covered the boys mouth with his hand and screamed in his face to never say no to him again. Then jerked him up sat him down and hit his butt again. Is this abuse or am I overreacting? I cant get it out of my mind to me thats not accectable to do that to a baby. Am I wrong?

Yes I agree with you because we are adults we should never hurt a child the spanking probably wasn't bad unless he hit him hard but putting his hand over his mouth and screaming in his face shouldn't have happened I think that man could use help controlling his temper.

Thank you , I have been going crazy thinking about this, it was a freind of mines husband and I just want to tell her to get away from him, plus she pregnant again. Im not saying for people not to spank their kids but I just feel there should be a line

No I dont think so she has never said anything, he just yells a lot and when he gets mad he calls her worthless and stupid stuff like that. Everything is always her fault if anythign goes wrong. He always wants her to wait on him hand and foot. she told me once that he says sex is her job. I know its none of my bussiness but we have been freinds since like 3rd grade I just feel bad for her.

I know she is your friend but maybe you should talk to her and tell her that it has really bothered you just knowing he does this child this way and god knows you are really worried about the child she is caring if he has that bad of a temper she needs to get away from him and let her know you are just worried about her and the child.

I have been in a marriage like that before and tell her it doesn't get any better it will only get worse I have sympathy for her and also my ex-husband drank alot and he would also beat on me when we argued it was always my fault he never done anything wrong tell her that she was put on god's earth to be loved by her husband not his maid he should be waiting on her hand and foot she is caring his baby.

This woman needs to nip this problem in the bud now. Her husband appears to be your typical emotional , verbal and physical abuser. The treatment of the baby is totally unacceptable behavior, and will get worse over time. It also appears that this man has no regard for his wife especially when he believes sex is all she's good for. Have this friend read up on some websites that explain about these types of abusers. Believe me, it will help her determine what needs done. The relationship will not get better --seen too much of this same situation over the years. This woman needs to make an appointment and talk with a counselor who deals with this type of situation involving domestic abuse on women/children. She'll be glad in the long-run that she did. Needs to protect those children and put them first--not the husband.
