Has anyone taken this drug? If so, did you have any side effects?

I used it with no side effects except having crazy dreams. It worked. I would recommend it to anyone.

I used it and had to quit taking it before I killed someone. I had lots of bad side effects from it.

I took it for 2 of the 3 months that I was scripted for. No problems, except WILD dreams. Cost is very high, if you do not have good health insurance. Smoked 2+ packs a day - depending. Quit on my target date and have never smoked another. No urges, no nicotene withdrawals, nothing. Chantix is awesome.

I took it, smoked for 20 years and quit. Haven't smoke one for 2 years now. Never even wanted one after I quit.

Greatest product ever. Had a few crazy dreams on it, nothing that bad. I had to take Prilosec with it, cause it made my stomach burn. It cost a $100 dollars or so, but doc will give you a discount card to help . I think health dept will give it free, not sure on that. Has to do with your income I guess.

The only bad thing was when I quit taking it, I stop all at once. I wouldn't recommend that. Caused brain zaps.

I saw what it did to a friend of mine. It wasn't pretty. I would rather stick with the smokes than go insane and think about killing myself or my family!

Really doesn't matter what it cost, with the price of cigs now.

I don't get the part of people wanting to kill themselves, I never had any mental change when using it.

For years an employee was courteous, hard working, no absences. Started on this stuff and total opposite personality emerged. Became rude, obstinate, nervous, and eventually retired. Not saying the Chantix was the only reason but there was reason to believe it had a great deal to do with the change in personality. .

I just began the drug today after smoking 25+ years. My company's insurance pays for it 100%, so I couldn't turn it down. I have other health problems that necessitate I quit smoking, plus I'm ready to quit. My doctor gave me two refills, but said he's seen greater success from people after taking it 6 months. Anybody who succeeded care to say how long you were on the drug?

You mean like nicotine withdrawal, maybe? Chantix attacks the physical urge for nicotine and negates the "positive" effects of nicotine that a smoker feels. It plainly states that you may still suffer from some psychological withdrawal symptoms - mood swings, personality changes, etc.

I was on it for 2 of the 3 months prescribed to me. Same with a co-worker of mine. Both of our doctors said 3 months at a time max. Very important to set a target quit date and stick to it. If you continue to feel urges, then continue Chantix through the third month. If it does for you like it did for me, you won't want another cig. They will taste disgusting and you won't get anything out of them - except a lighter wallet. After three weeks on it, I couldn't even finish a full cig. Had to practically force myself to smoke up until my target date.

The Chantix began working faster than I expected. Four days in and not only do I have little craving for a cigarette, but after smoking after breakfast (out of habit) I became nauseous. It's still too early to tell, but ive experienced a headache almost every day since I began treatment. I've saved $15.00!

Congrats! Keep it up. I got the nausea, also. Maybe a headache or two; but, not every day. If it continues, you should contact your doctor. Yes - it starts working fast. I noticed a definite change in the first week. I think I made my target quit date in the third or maybe fourth week. It is VERY important to have this target date in the first month after at least 1 or 2 weeks on Chantix AND continuing to smoke. Get to the date and throw away any cigs that you have left over. After a couple of days, you prob won't even think about it. Just keep taking your script. I finished second month and that was it. Smoke-free!! And,$60.00 a week richer!! Woo-hoo!!

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
