True politics showed its ugly head today when the Alabama Republican Party voted to removed Judge Hawk from ballot. We should all remember these underhanded tactics that our "local" politicians are playing when we go to the polls.

Look at what shape the Republicans have gotten us into. Local, County, State and Nationally.

The way i see this is, first Howard took monies from the democrats to get elected, switched to the Rerpublicans, is he going to give that money back to the dems? Actually as a Judge, he should not be eithe party since a judge is supposed to be impartial, so go with the independent party, win, and keep doing a good job !!

Can anyone other than Mrs. Brewster what did Judge Hawk do that made him "liberal"? I have been in his court as a witness and he seemed very fair and actually conservative to me. Did Jerry Baker asked to have judge Hawk removed from the ballot? it sure seems that way. I will vote for Judge Hawk as a right in candidate to show my displeasure with the Marshall county Republican party. I have voted across party lines before because I believe in voting for the person not the party. Shame on you Mrs Brewster and shame on you Jerry Baker.

Show your support for judge hawk and sign the petition for him to be placed on ballet as independent. does not mean you will vote for him just that you support him to be placed on ballet.

Another Marshall County zebra is trying to change his stripes. Of course, zebras cannot change their stripes anymore than Judge Howard Hawk can claim he is a republican. Don't let these folks fool you. It was not Jean Brewer or the local republicans that tried to circumvent the Marshall County voters in our upcoming judicial election. It was Judge Howard Hawk himself.

Judge Hawk did not have some grand awakening that called him into the republican fold. After the elections in 2010, all his democrat party buddies that had controlled state and local politics (since before I was born) finally got the pink slip from voters. A career democrat politician, Judge Hawk saw the writing on the wall.

Judge Hawk then made the decision that instead of “letting the people of Marshall County decide”(as he is so fond of saying now) between himself and the republican candidate, he tried to jump ship. Judge Hawk, being a heavily connected insider in democrat party politics, knew that his party would have no one to challenge him if he swapped sides. He thought that jumping the fence would ensure an easy re-election in 2012. We have all heard about “insider trading,” but Hawk's deceitful designs are more like “insider electing.” Judge Hawk does not give a rip about us voters or our ability to decide for ourselves. He is simply trying to manipulate us for his own benefit.

I can tell you about Constitutional rights violations many of us citizens have suffered in Judge Hawk's courtroom. I can also show you documentary evidence of his rulings which are in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution as well as our State Constitution. My own experience has shown that, in Judge Hawk's courtroom, all that matters is who you know and how much money you have.

Naturally, a whole lot of rich people around here are making a big deal about Hawk not being on the ballot. Why wouldn't they? They have spent good money over the years keeping their man Hawk in office. The republicans, at both the state and local level, saw Hawk's attempt at manipulating the voters for what it really is. Thankfully, they are not going to play along with his clever tricks.

Judge Hawk is just another “good ol boy” politician trying to take advantage of Marshall County voters, much like the ones we removed from office in 2010. Had Hawk been on the ballot that year, he would already be unemployed. This he knows well, and that knowledge alone is why he abandoned his friends in the democrat party shortly after the elections. I, for one, did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday and I am not buying what these snake oil salesmen are pushing on us voters. If you do, then give me a call. I've got some ocean front property in Arizona I'll be glad to sell you too!

Brad, i see you must be one of the worthless dad's that went in court with a balance of unpaid child support and ceartainly did not like Judge Hawk's ruling. Pay up punk, support your kids, get a job, stop with the drug dealing and get a ballot and vote Hawk as independent.

Judge Hawk divided families with his own judgements clearly suggesting he put no thought into it. He then decided to change parties apparently with little thought as well. Thus causing a silly uproar and dividing parties and people. Best thing to do is forget Judge Hawk and move forward. He is strickly a politician and cares nothing about a single one of those who support him. I mean like most of them, when they get into office they start thinking of only one thing, how to stay in office. He makes a 140 thousand a year, shot his mouth off, made some dumb choices, liked to gripe about his job and now wants to keep it. I think we should vote for someone a little more hungrier for the job and not someone who thinks they are entitled to it.

I know Judge Hawk and know him to be a fair and decent man and judge. It seems only the people that lose their cases or dont get things the way they wanted them dont like judge Hawk. He an upstanding citizen and a straight shooter. I have seen him give people 6 months to pay a speeding ticket because they were jobless. He presided over a case that I was a witness in and he was more than fair with his verdict, and the verdict didnt turn out like we had hoped for our side. I also know Jerry Baker and Jerry is a nice guy too but I dont think he has the best interests of Marshall County in mind like judge Hawk does. Dont let hurt feelings over a case sway you. I encourage all of you to talk to Judge Hawk and Mr. Baker and see which one you think is the best fit.

Judge Hawk could care a less about Marshall county. Most lawyers in the county don't call him a straight shooter. They say you never know what he is going to do. I mean it is just that simple. Most of the people in power think he shoots from the hip and doesn't even pay attention. He may be a good guy. However, as a judge i consistantly hear complaint after complaint. Hawk has made a lot of mistakes in just the past few years. He is and always was a politician. More now than ever. I have seen Judge Hawk in action too. He is a very dissapointing guy. Hawk's biggest mistake was family court. Men and women go before him hoping to find a resolve and his very own words have been that he wished they would work it out themselves. They wouldn't be there if they could. Spending 10s of thousands to get judgements that are simplistic and without clarity. I encourage you to take a look at his own statements in court, locate his judgements and you will see that Hawk is a guy that just doesn't care.

Teresa you are from new hope I dought you have ever been in hawks courtroom. And yes I would tell them that they need to work out there difference because I bet children are involved. Just look at how many people signed his Petition to get him on the ballet. Over 7000. That alone speaks volumes. Scared brewer so much she quit and now Russ elrod for Arab has her seat. I work at the court house on the second floor where judge hawks office is and we love him. You are either a friend of brewer or baker.

Nope never been in his court room other than an observer to others. He doesn't do drug court or criminal court for Arab anymore. He is and wanted to be a family court judge and that is what he does. What year are you living in? Obviously you clean the bathrooms and have no idea what he does. Of course you love him, you are ignorant of what he even does as a judge.

Brewer was a retired old lady who took up politics for a hobby. I don't know her. So picking on old ladies is your style? Bet Hawk is proud to have you on his team. I've noticed a little of that too. That Hawk's supporters are kinda mean and stuff. Interesting. Keep up the good work.
