Give the "Danch" 2 years to fix itself. Tell them to take back their streets, cooperate with police on all investigations, when the police arrest their family members they should not be mad at the police they should be mad at thier family member for committing a crime, and give the police information so they can do their jobs. If you want to live in a better place it has to start with the residents. If that doesn't work after 2 years just drop a few 500 lb bombs on them and start all over.

Bullet proof glass and barb wire. I would not feel safe not to have that and security to walk me to and from my car. Sorry guys but that neighborhood is rough. Newsday should leave the business details of the post office to the post office. Don't Dis the Danch? Isn't this just the type of racist statement that Newsday in their infinite unrelenting calls to racial justice would rail against? You guys are complete hypocrites.

Put the Post Office and the Police Department sub station in the same building right in the middle of the area of the railrod station or does that make too much common sense?

Are you trying to tell me that the good people of Wyandanch need a more convenient place to pay their bills? That they wanted a post office, and now they're getting one, and they're not happy. Typical entitlement mindset.
Is the cost of the bullet proof glass going to be added to the cost of postage? It's not my fault that Wyandanch needs barbed wire!
Building anything in Wyandanch is a mistake.

It's amazing how you can twist your words and try to make the Post Office look bad. How many banks are in Wyandanch? Do they have bullet proof glass? Do you know how many times the Wyandanch PO has been robbed? Where is your concern for the Postal employee who likes going home to their families at night? Truth be told Wyandanch is not the nicest area on Long Island. The Postal Service has a responsibility to their employees to provide a safe work environment. Your worried about offending and not protecting. I would rather have the employees protected before I worried about who I offended.

Gee whiz, you're really surprised that the USPS acts in such a high-handed, uncooperative manner?

This is the same USPS that has designed postal zones in such a manner that the majority of places on LI have a different community name in their mailing address than the community where that place is actually located: only one of the 293 communities (2 cities + 96 villages + 195 hamlets) on LI has a postal zone that shares its name and has the same border as the community whose name it shares.

I am really not clear on what you are referring to. Can you please give an example? What communities are you talking about?

The major problem is that the USPS uses non-conforming postal zones -- now referred to as ZIP Codes -- and this leads to severe geographic confusions about where a particular place may be located in the cities, villages and hamlets of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Of all 293 communities located on Long Island, only the Village of Sea Cliff in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and its same-named postal zone have identical borders. All the other postal zones in either county have a different border from the community (city, village or hamlet) whose name the postal zone "shares".

The following should help you understand better the confusion between postal zone community and true community -- and, it may also bring a smile or two to your lips:

This is a preliminary and partial listing of famous Long Island places that are "Not Where You Think They Are". It's somewhat incredulous that the majority of places in Nassau and Suffolk Counties have a different community name in their mailing address than the community they are actually in,

The government should enforce eminent domain and level all the houses and start the town over from scratch. They need to clean up the trash on long island. We pay enough taxes that we do not need the place looking like garbage.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
